Hi my name is Buddy and I am looking for a new home. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a friendly chap who loves meeting new people, especially people who will give me a good scratch behind my ears or rub my tummy. I consider myself to be very intelligent and a super character to know. Some would say an asset. I am full of fun and energy and adore running in fields with the wind blowing in my hair! I am sure you can see that picture in your head and yes it does really look that good.

I love playing catch but I do have a party trick I can not only catch the ball but bounce it back to you! Think of the fun we could have. I would be looking for a adult only home with people who are familiar with Border Collie Breed and someone who loves me for who I am. In return I am willing to let you shower me with praise and affection and tell me how much you enjoy my company. I will also do my best to make you happy by always greeting you with a wagging tail and a cheeky smile.

Although I am active I do enjoy coming home to a cosy bed and a warm fire, and the
only thing that makes this more enjoyable is having someone to cuddle into.

I nearly forgot I am vaccinated, neutered, micro chipped and I do come with insurance
and free behavioural advice.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Maddie is a female Border Collie girl who has obviously had a difficult start in life and she is still only a youngster at 10 months old. Maddie is currently in a foster home in Nottinghamshire and living with other dogs which she gets along fine with although she can be a bit bossy at times. She is also fine with the cats in the home.

Due to her poor start in life Maddie is proving difficult to house train but we are confident she will master this soon. She also spins in excitement when she heres a noise that is strange to her, this is due to things not being introduced to her when she was a puppy, we also think she may have been kept in an enclosed space for a long period, she is however making progress and then spinning is getting slower.

Maddie is an extreemly affectionate girl and she adores to be around people. Outside of the home Maddie is a different girl, she is confident, happy go lucky and confident. She is great off lead and her recall is fantastic, she loves chasing the ball and will even bring it back to you.

Ideally a home with another older dog where she can spend plenty of time outside would be perfect for Maddie.

If you are interested in giving this pretty girl the stable forever home that she needs please contact Lynda on 07878572343 or Julie on 07738638091 or email info@dunroamin-k9rescue.org.uk

Blue is a 12½ year old Border Collie boy who came into Oldies Club care after his owner sadly passed away and family members were not able to look after him longer term. Blue is now in an Oldies Club foster home in Wiltshire, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.

Introducing Blue: Blue is an easy-going dog who is eager to please. He loves his walks and retrieving his ball or just pottering around the garden.

Settled quickly; Enjoys having company: Blue settled into his foster home quickly. He loves being around people but is OK to be left for up to 3 or 4 hours. However, Blue’s foster carers would ideally like Blue to go to a home where he will have plenty of company as he does get really attached to people. He therefore wouldn’t be suitable for a home with full-time workers, but part-time workers might be OK

Good with dogs: Blue is fine with other dogs and is happily living with three Labradors. On walks, he would like to play with the other dogs, but he seems to realise that they are perhaps too fast for him, so he just potters along on his own.

Hasn’t lived with cats but ignores them outside: Blue hasn’t met any cats whilst in foster, but we were told that in his previous home he would just ignore the neighbour’s cats that came into his garden. He tends to ignore other animals.

Could live with teenage children: Blue’s foster carers feel that, due to his soft nature, Blue would be OK to live with sensible, considerate teenage children. He would enjoy children making a fuss of him, but wouldn’t want them to overdo it or pull him around. They would need to be calm around him.

Loves walks: Blue loves his regular walks. He is always first out the door and waiting at the gate for his lead. He is good on the lead, occasionally pulling out of eagerness, but provided you set a reasonable pace he is fine. He will try to eat the lead if it gets in his way or if you stop on the way to the fields, but this is easily stopped with a short ‘no’. Off lead, Blue will potter around on his own, or try to get you to play ball, a game which once started is hard to finish! He gets tired so you need to judge this carefully. His recall is quite good and he doesn’t wander far, but he does like to know where everyone is so will try to keep you all together.

Blue is having gentle walks of up to an hour, twice a day, but this includes some time playing ball — the actual length of walk is about a mile or so. Blue needs to lose some more weight so his foster carers have been gradually building up his walks. His enthusiasm far outweighs his current physical ability!

Good in the car and out and about: Blue travels well in the car. He is good in public places, the pub, and other people’s homes.

Blue likes…: Being around people; Pottering around the garden; Walks and playing retrieve with his ball; Sleeping under your chair; Treats and food in general.

Blue dislikes…: Not much really. He’s not too keen on visiting the vet, or small spaces.

Blue’s perfect home: Given his age and soft, calm nature, Blue’s foster carers believe that he would be best suited to a quieter but active home, with a reasonable size garden and adopters that will be around for a good part of the day. Regular garden breaks and at least twice daily exercise are a must for Blue.

Health notes: Blue is vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. He is not neutered, but the vet was reluctant to do this operation at this time given his age and stiffness. The stiffness is in his back end, and the muscles in his rear legs are a bit weak due to him being overweight and a lack of exercise in his past. However, now that Blue has lost some weight, his foster carers are gradually building up his walks and he is going for longer every day (trying to stop him going for a longer walk is the only problem!).

Foster carers’ summary of Blue: “Blue is a very sweet natured and soft Collie who just likes to please. He loves being in contact with humans and enjoys his walks and play time enormously. He has fitted into our home routine very quickly and is accepted by the other dogs. When awake he is very alert and always watching you, but he does sleep in his bed or on the floor in any room. At night he just sleeps in his bed or at the bottom of the stairs. He is very intelligent, curious and learns quickly and has a reasonable grasp of basic commands. Blue would fit into many homes without any fuss at all.”

Toby is one of our ‘Twelve dogs of christmas’ which are 12 dogs within our sanctuary whom we feel are a priority in terms of finding them new homes…either because they are older, nervous or struggling in kennels, or simply that they have been waiting too long.

Toby is a 14 month old border collie who was surrendered by his family after their child was diagnosed with asthma. He was hit by a car in his previous home and sadly had to have his tail amputated, but this has completely healed and should have no lasting medical affects. Toby is not doing well in kennels, he is becoming depressed and really needs to settle back into home life as soon as possible.

Toby been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. ‘Hi, I’m Toby! I don’t really understand why I am here. I miss my family, and my warm home. They are all so kind to me here, but I don’t want to eat, play or do much of anything. I just lay waiting…hoping that those who used to love me will come back for me.

I’m quite shy with new people at first but once i know you, you couldn’t wish for a more faithful friend! I just need to learn to trust again…can you help me?

I have lots of doggy friends here at the sanctuary, but no matter how much they try to cheer me up, I can’t stop wishing and hoping for a home to call my own.

My Christmas wish didn’t come true this year…a Christmas in kennels was all I was had to look forward to. I just hope someone can find it in their heart to give me the second chance I deserve for 2012…

If you can offer Toby or any of our dogs, a place in your heart and your home, please call Kymm on 07886 620009 or email southeastdogrescue@hotmail.com Toby could live with another dog and could live with children aged 10 plus. He can be cat tested if needed.

We can’t think of a better start to the year than for Toby to find the forever home he has been patiently waiting for. Please make 2012 the year that Sid’s
future changes for the better…..

Matilda is a very sweet girl, she can be a little shy when you first meet her but she soon settles down on her walks and enjoys herself. Matilda loves a cuddle and is real fuss pot, she would rather cuddle than walk . This young lady will need some training and would prefer a quieter home, she will need plenty of exercise to keep her happy and she will be a loyal companion. Matilda is fine to be handled and gets on well with her kennel mate.

Meet Missie. A stunning 5 year old Border Collie looking for a loving, active and experienced home. Missie came to us in October as after one of her owner’s passed away and the other left to live with family, she was left with another Border Collie alone in the house, being visited to be fed and let into the garden. Understandably, both dogs were extremely stressed and scared when we collected them. The other is now in long term foster and Missie is now ready for a forever home.

Missie first spent some time in kennels where she was walked by our kennel walkers a few times a week. At first she was very nervous when being taken out, did a great deal of collie “stalking” small dogs and strange people and found the sights and sounds all very alarming, but with time, patience and love, she greatly improved and was ready to move on to a foster home as an only dog (one step at a time).

Here’s what her foster mum has to say about this beautiful girl: “My friend came around for a meal with her 7 year old ward earlier, who was very wary of Missie so I kept her in the Kitchen for a while. 2 hours later, he didn’t want to go and was on the floor cuddling her! Despite both of them being wound up like tops, her behaviour has been faultless. I am totally impressed with her. To look at her you would think she has been here for months. Just to make things even better she was clean and dry all night and didn’t make a sound. She sleeps downstairs and doesn’t make a sound all night. In the evenings she comes to sit with me and then takes herself off to her bed when she wants to settle for the night.”

We are looking for a very experience Border Collie home, who can bring Missie on in confidence so she can live a happy and contented Border Collie life. As she did live with another dog, we think this would be possible but it would need to be a larger confident dog that can help her onto her next stage.

We would like a quieter household with no young children for Miss as she is still liable to becoming stressed easily.

As you can see, this girl is stunning inside and out, and we know it won’t take long for her forever home with the dedication and love to help this girl.

Missie has been spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped. She is currently on foster in South Wales but we home across the UK.

If you’re interested in adopting Missie, please read our adoption guidelines and procedure;
