Luke – 10 year old male Corgi cross German Spitz

Hello, my name is Luke, I’m a 10 year old male, Corgi and Spitz Crossbreed. I came at the The Mayhew when my owners moved to a new home and could not take me with them.

As I had spent all my life with them I was very bewildered at first but felt a lot better when I made friends with my kennelmate, another golden oldie called Coco. I am now in a foster home and my foster mum says that I am a perfect gent. I settled down very quickly and although I like company, I stay out of the way and don’t demand attention if my foster mum has things to do. That said I do love a good cuddle and really enjoy being brushed and groomed. I am very welcoming with visitors, and I don’t bark when people come to the house. I just roll on my back for a good old tummy rub. I am also very clean in the house and can be left for up to three to four hours without causing any problems. Although I love a good snooze as much as the next dog I am always up for a walk. I am very well-behaved on lead and walk to heel and never pull. I love to explore in the park and don’t wander too far away. I am also very polite and friendly with other dogs although a little wary at first and I enjoy travelling in the car.

I am very sprightly for my age and full of energy – but the good calm kind not the annoying boisterous sort! I have a mild heart murmur which doesn’t require any medication. I am now looking for a loving retirement home and would be happiest with new owners who will give me one hour of off lead exercise every day, along with the home comforts a dog my age deserves. I am the ideal dog for first time owners and could happily live with another dog. I would also be happy to live with cats. I am looking for a home without young children although older kids who wouldn’t pester me would be fine. My foster mum says that I am a well-behaved, good looking and friendly old boy who will make a loving and loyal companion
