German Shepherd
Kia – 3-4 year old female German Shepherd
Kia is a pedigree German Shepherd bitch aged around 3-4 years old. She is a real stunner. She too found herself in the pound. She has had little training, but is quick to learn. She is good with other dogs and loves people. She is so gentle and loving. She is currently in season and must be spayed when it is safe to do so.

Beauty – 3-5 year old female German Shepherd Dog
Beauty young German Sheperd. What a stunner this girl is, she is sure to make your heart melt, with her beautiful coat and big brown eyes. Beauty is a typical youngster, keen and bright and ready for the world. She will require a home which is committed to furthering training and an active home which can meet her exercise requirements. Beauty is very toy orientated and her focus on toys will be a bonus for her training. She is a friendly lady and is happy to be fussed and cuddled but what she really wants is a home to call her own. UPDATE: Beauty spent a weekend in a foster home, this is what they had to say about our beautiful girl.Beauty has been an absolute joy to foster. She has oodles of personality and has clearly had a good basic training. I cannot work out why anyone would not want to keep her so I can only imagine it was financial. We collected Beauty on Saturday and after a brief walk in the woods she was into the back of the car and lying down like she’d travelled with us all of her life. When we got home she had a thorough sniff of all the nooks and crannies in the house and garden. (I had checked any possible escape routes.) She was so well behaved it was like she had come home. Everything from feeding time, asking to go out and walking was easy with Beauty, although she pulls a little on the lead.By the time evening came and we sat down to watch telly, Beauty was lying with her head resting on my feet and snoozing contentedly. She is such a loving and friendly dog. She made sure everyone was there and always checked they were ok when they returned to the room. Herding nature! At bedtime she laid by the kitchen door (I left the radio on very quietly for her) and she gave me a huge welcome (hugs and licks) in the morning to be let out. I have to confess, I was quite worried she might have investigated the furniture, books, cables or carpet with her teeth or left a gift or two in the room, but she had just slept and behaved herself perfectlyShe was so good, she didn’t even make a noise until the next day when she answered next door’s spaniel who heard the Rag & Bone man! Good bark to scare off unwanted visitors
I haven’t got room to write everything down that was endearing and indeed “beautiful” about Beauty. All I can tell you is that if I could find a way for her to be homed with a family that can give her the time, love and exercise she should have I’d be a very happy foster dad. Letting her back into the kennel at the rescue on Monday night was like having a piece of me removed! javascript:emoticon. She was fine, as Ros had given her a nice bone to focus on, but I’m still missing her. Gorgeous dog.

Amber – 3-5 year old female German Sheperd Dog
Amber is an 3 to 5 year old female German Shepherd . Now all you GSD fans get in line this girl is stunning, she has come into our care alittle over weight but now with the correct diet and plenty of exercise she is shedding the extra podge. Amber walks well on the lead, she does pull abit but this is aided with the help of a harness, she knows basic commands and of course loves a treat or two or three.
Amber is very loving, she likes to bury her head into your legs and she certainly knows how to wrap you around her little finger or in her case toe. She has walked with a small dog very politely and has got on with other dogs while at the rescue. Amber is looking for a home without children. She will make a loyal addition to the right family.

16Mar2012 | GSD Lifeline | READ MOREDylan – 4 year old male German Shepherd Dog
Dylan is an approximately 4 year old GSD and is currently on foster in Merthyr Tydfil. Dylan is a real heartbreaker, he is a handsome dog with eyes that really show you his soul. They are the type of eyes that express what a loving and loyal dog he truly is. We don’t think Dylan has had the best start in life. He has come in to our care in poor condition, he has been unloved for a long time. He is still a little underweight, his skin and coat were poor, his muscles showed he had not been given the exercise he needed and he lacks a little training.
However, that being said he is still the sort of dog you would be proud to own. He is gentle with people that he meets and once he really gets to know you, well, you have a friend for life. True to the breed he is a loyal and giving dog. We feel he will not be suitable as a first dog and would suit someone with a little more experience. He can be nervy with men who are standing over him or raise voices and he became become very submissive and can be a bit backwards at coming forwards when he greets strange men.

Dylan has been assessed in an adult only foster home however he has spent time with older children during his assessment. He has been very affectionate and gentle with them so we feel he could be rehomed with children over the age of 8 who are used to dogs (and are tough enough to cope if his big tail wag in to them or he steps on their foot!).
Dyl has been living with an adult female shepherd in his foster home and has settled in with her beautifully. He had a bit of a grumble day one near his food bowl but this has not been repeated and they happily share toys and beds. Dylan has been good with many dogs he meets out on walks, some he completely ignores. He has had a few testy moments with some other dogs, sizing each other up etc but he is still entire so this can be expected. He will not be rehomed until he has been castrated and has had time to settle after the op.
Dylan is strong out on the lead and seems to have lacked much freedom in his previous home. His recall was not too hot when he arrived in foster care but his foster family have been working hard on it and this will need to continue in a new home. He has also learnt to sit on command and is getting the hang of some other commands. We recommend that a new owner continue basic training with him using positive kind training methods. He is not a dog who can be trained through punishment or raised voices as he is a sensitive and submissive dog. He is bright and eager to please and will come along quickly in experienced hands or with the help of a trainer.
Dylan can be left but has always had another dog for company in his foster home. Ideally we fell he would be best suited to a home with another dog who will show him the ropes and keep him company. He can whine at first when his humans leave but he will settle down.
Dylan has not been tested with cats but has shown a lot of interest in small furries and we fell it would be best if he were rehomed without feline company.
Dylan has a heck of a jump and he is a nosey soul so he will require a secure garden with high fencing.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
