David is a lovely 5 year old greyhound that came to us recently after retiring from racing.. David ran well over 100 races so has very much earnt his retirement! David is a very handsome boy, elegant and pointy and he is very loveable! a complete classic greyhound… he walks like a dream on the lead right by your side… he is very very appealing for greyhound lovers!

David is extremely responsive and a complete foodie! he will do anything for a treat and in the paddocks has superb recall! He loves to be with you and doing. Being such a consistent racer means David has a keen eye for movement so would not be a dog to have off lead in open spaces but he would love a garden to show off his running and have a good blast and play..

Before arriving with us David has only ever met other greyhounds! we are busy getting him out and about and introducing him to the world full of other shaped dogs and animals… David is looking for a sighthound savvy adult home.

Coco is a stunning 4 year old greyhound girl who is a total pleasure to have with us….Coco is clean, quiet, happy and very content in her kennel, loves going exploring for long walks, has been social meeting all other dogs and has that wonderful way about her that makes our unruly youngsters remember their manners!!

We would love to keep Coco forever really as she is such a dream …… but that’s not fair! This stunning lady deserves her own life and wow someone will be very lucky to have her…

Jorge – 12-18 month old male Greyhound

A young stunning lad who looks like a greyhound but isn’t tattood and came into rescue when he was rescued after being spotted thrown from a car. Jorge isn’t bothered though – he doesn’t let things get him down, for Jorge life is one big game and he loves to play!

Jorge is cat friendly but brave cats only as he is very bouncy and silly! Jorge is looking for a home to teach him how to behave in a pet home – he will come in and take over and be all excited but with some sensible, gentle direction he will soon understand how you want him to behave and I don’t think there will be any looking back….

Jorge is incredibly handsome and we guess he is between 12 – 18 mnths old? Jorge loves to play ball and he does jump up at the moment – but this will need to be on your training what not to do list!!

We are looking for an adult home and Jorge could live with other dogs… he is very social.

Hey, I’m Shreddie! I’m a 3 1/2 year old Greyhound boy and I have come all the way from Ireland as a stray and I am looking for a new home. I am a loveable chap who loves to be out and about exploring the outside world and I love going for nice walks. I can live with a doggy pal in my new home but we will have to see how we get on at the centre first.

I can also live with children in my new home but I would have to meet them at the centre first to see how we interact. Please come and see me if you can offer me the home I long for!

Emma is a sweet natured, 10 week old Greyhound puppy came to us in a disgraceful state. She is improving well and growing at a fast rate. She will probably be happier sharing a home with another dog.

Mistly is an adorable friendly greyhound, 3-4 yrs old who is living in a foster home in Sheffield along with two other dogs. She goes out for long walks with lots of doggy friends and is well known around the neighbourhood for wanting to play chase with everything – and is sometimes let off lead to have a good run. She would prefer a more energetic home, but is equally happy going to work with her foster carer and sleeping peacefully under the desk. Her foster carer says “she is perfect with adults, children and all other dogs. Her recall is brilliant until we get near the playground where she knows my son will be and then she runs off to find him and only comes back once she has collected him.

Hannah is a sweet and gentle older Greyhound, around 7-8 yrs who is just the easiest dog on earth to own. She is living in a foster home with children and two other dogs. Hannah is gentle on the lead – doesn’t pull or jump up. Her foster mum adores her and she still gets out for nice walks. We are looking for a calm home where she will be kept nice, warm, and well cared for. She comes with a clean bill of health.

Hello, my name is Toby. I’m a three year old male Greyhound. I arrived at The Mayhew due to my owner’s ill health. I am a sweet natured, sensitive and affectionate boy. I’m sensible and calm indoors, I’m well behaved and I can be left on my own for a couple of hours without any problems. I’m a pleasure to take for a walk; I always walk nicely by your side. I can be easily intimidated by larger dogs I’ve not met before so I prefer to keep my distance and I can get over excited with smaller dogs so I need to wear a muzzle on my walks. I’m not really into toys, except in the evenings when if encouraged I enjoy a game with my teddies and I also like to dance with my foster carer’s daughter. Loud noises and stairs scare me, noisy teenagers also unnerve me. I’m super gentle and affectionate and I love to lean in for cuddles. My foster carer says I’m a laid back and easy boy who settled down quickly. I spend most of my time lying on my bed watching what’s going on in the house.

I am now looking for a quiet forever home with someone who has owned dogs before and researched my breed type. I will need to live in either a house or a ground floor flat with direct access to a garden and I’ll need a home where there is somebody around for most of the day. I can live with sensible and calm teenagers but no visiting young children please or cats. I could possibly live with another large sized dog providing we’re the right match. My new owners will be expected to provide me with a minimum of one hour of controlled off lead exercise in the park every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you will be taking on a twelve year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
