Japanese Akita

Kazan – 14 year old male Akita

Kazan is a 14 year old Akita who has been waiting in kennels for 18 months as his owner had to go away. Sadly, his owner never came back for him so we are now offering this lovely old boy for adoption. It’s always heartbreaking to see older dogs stuck in kennels so it would be really wonderful to see this old boy in a new, warm home as soon as possible. We would like to find him a quiet home as he’s of later years. Please contact Jo on 01406 540211. Kazan is kennelled in our Spalding Kennels, Lincs.

Flynn – 3-4 year old male Japanese Akita

Hi My name is Flynn and I am a 3-4 year old Japanese Akita. I am ever so friendly and people keep calling me the BFG ( Big friendly Giant). I still think i’m a puppy and am always so very excited to see people that i will shout hello and bounce around on all fours to see if I can get you to play!

I am looking for an owner with experience of larger breeds, I can be quite strong on my lead at times and would benefit from some continued training with this. I love to play, especially with squeaky toys and people call me “wigglebum” becuase I am just so happy that my whole body wags along with my tail!

I am looking for an active home where people will have plenty of time to exersise me..and play..and I would be better with older children due to my size as I can be a little clumsy at times. If you think you have the time and space for this lovely big bear please give us a call.

Clyde – 4 year old male Japanese Akita

This is Clyde, a striking 4 year old long coated Akita looking for a new home. Currently living with three children, he gets on well with them all; however the youngest is not dog savvy, and insists on trying to play with Clyde in ways he does not like! Initially curious with new people, he prefers to approach in his own time whilst he susses people out! Fussy with treats, when Clyde has something he likes he will sit and give his paw – having attended puppy classes with his owner, he has a basic knowledge of commands however much has been forgotten. Clyde does not have many boundaries at present, and requires an owner who will take him back to basics, to ensure that he understands his place in the pack and how he ought to behave! Whilst not being strong on the lead, he becomes excited to be out for a walk, and bounds around, bouncing happily! This could easily be resolved with regular lead training, he is certainly more responsive outside of the house and seems to enjoy his walks. Currently living with children aged 2 and upwards, we feel that Clyde would be best placed in a very experienced (preferably Akita experienced) home without young children and with an owner who is prepared to dedicate time and effort to training and playing with him! Living with a medium sized dog in his present home, we do feel that Clyde would benefit from being with another dog, pending successful introductions.

Amber – 3 year old female Japanese Akita

This is Amber, a stunning 3 year old Akita girl looking for a new home because she is no longer getting along with the other dogs in the family. Amber’s owners have tried incredibly hard to make the relationship work, however it is felt that the end of the line has been reached and that it would be better for all involved for Amber to have a new home where she will be the only dog.

Fantastic with adults and children, Amber is a playful girl who loves to meet new people. With perfect manners, She is a well behaved girl who is eager to please and loves the great outdoors. She is equally happy inside or out! Amber has not lived with cats, and will need to be the only dog in her home. With her experience with children, we would be happy to place Amber with the right family aged 8 or older. Could this stunning lady be the girl for you?

Kito – 4 year old male Japanese Akita

This is Kito, a lovely 4 year old Akita boy looking for a new home due to a change in his owner’s circumstances. Friendly and playful, Kito was happy to meet our assessor, running over to deliver licks and kisses. Kito adores attention, and was happy to be stroked and cuddled! Presented with treats, he demonstrated his knowledge of commands, sitting and lying down when asked. Kito has not displayed any signs of food possession or aggression and took treats gently from our assessor.

Currently living with children aged seven plus, in a busy household with visitors of all ages, Kito is happy around people of all ages. We feel that he would be better placed in a home with children aged over eight years old. Currently living with Kiss (FOA Ref: 288) it is felt that with the right introductions, he could live with another dog. Could Kito be the boy for you?

Kai – 14 month old male Japanese Akita

This is Kai, a handsome 14 month old Akita man looking for a new home due to a change in his owner’s working hours. Kai displays a good knowledge of commands and is responsive to correction when displaying some typical puppy behaviour! Being treat orientated, he will respond well to further training in his new home. Confident without being dominant or pushy, Kai is a big lad with plenty more growing to do, however he is eager to please, and with the use of a headcollar walks well on the lead.

Having had little contact with other dogs, he doesn’t show signs of dog aggression when out walking, however this would need to be further tested with potential housemates! Kai has had very little contact with children, and as such he will not be placed in a home with a young family. Could this gorgeous young man be the one for you?

Denny – 5 year old male Japanese Akita

This is Denny, a stunning 5 year old white Akita male looking for a new home due to his owner’s impending house move. An excitable boy, Denny greeted our assessor with a huge cuddle! Friendly and waggy, he demonstrated his manners with food, sitting for treats and waiting nicely. Willing to sit on command, Denny is less keen to lie down, however on the day of assessment he had not yet been walked, and as such was very excitable. Out on the lead he does pull, however we feel that this could be worked on with patience and the use of a head collar.

Denny is currently being passed around homes of different family members, and despite his wonderful personality he desperately needs some stability in his life. Denny has not been socialised much with other dogs, and as such we are unsure as to his suitability to live with another dog. He has lived with children of a variety of ages in the past; we feel that he would be better suited to a family with children aged over ten. Could you give Denny the home he needs?

Sisco – 5 year old male Japanese Akita

This is Sisco, a handsome 5 year old Akita boy looking for a new home, as his current owners feel they cannot give him the life he deserves. Friendly and happy to meet people, Sisco was very licky with our assessor, and was content to be stroked all over. Apparently a very quick learner, Sisco has a limited knowledge of commands, something which could be rectified with training in his new home. Fond of being outdoors, Sisco has spent a limited amount of time indoors, something which his new owner must be aware of, and be prepared to make the transition. The FOA Trust (UK) will not re-home any Akita to any owner who wishes to permanently keep a dog outside.

Currently living with a male Rottweiler, Sisco could potentially live with another dog pending successful introductions. Sisco does live with children in his present home, however it appears that he has not spent a great deal of time with them, and as such we feel that Sisco would be better suited to a family with children aged over ten, or without children. Could this smiley boy be the Akita for you?

Phoebe has not lived in a home with children, and as such she would be better placed in a home with older, or no children. Currently living with another dog, we feel that given the right introductions, she could potentially live with another dog in her new home. Could Phoebe be the girl for you?
