Labrador Cross

Tanner – 3 year old male Labrador Cross

Tanner is a lovely 3 year old male Labrador Cross. Poor Tanner was handed-in through absolutely no fault of his own, I can’t really say why but I can tell you it made my blood boil.

He has lived as part of a family, which included a baby, and he was very good with the children. This makes his hand-in even sadder and I’m sure he must wonder where on earth they have all gone. He is fine with other dogs and could live with one again. Judging by the length of his nails when he came in last week he hasn’t been getting regular walks, but I’m sure he loves going for a walk and deserves proper exercise every day. I would imagine too that he is housetrained and could be left for a few hours a day without any problems.

He’s a lovely dog who really needs a proper home, with people who love him and who will cherish him for the rest of his life, and not throw him out when something (they perceive to be) better comes along!

He will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being rehomed and, although at our Centre in King’s Lynn in Norfolk, Tanner could be rehomed outside of the county dependent upon a successful homecheck.

If you’d like to meet Tanner, or would like to find out more about him, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

We all look forward to hearing from you.

Paddy – 4 year old male Labrador Retriever

This is Paddy and he is a 4 year old male Labrador Retriever. He will be a lovely dog with a confident, competent owner who can do some firm training with him.

We would like he to be re-homed into a child free home as he is very boisterous. He is fine living with other dogs although he may benefit from being an only dog.

Minnie – 10 year old female Labrador Cross

Minnie is an adorable 10 year old Labrador Cross who is in an Oldies Club foster home in Mow Cop, Staffordshire, waiting for someone to offer her a permanent home. Minnie has had a sad time in recent months. Her former owner became unable to care for her and so Minnie was placed in private boarding kennels whilst the family tried to secure her a rescue place where there was no risk of her being put to sleep if she wasn’t rehomed within a certain time. She found that place with the Oldies Club, after spending 11 sad and lonely months in kennels.

Despite all she’s been through, Minnie settled into her foster home straight away and has proved to be a really lovely dog. She absolutely adores the 14 year old girl in her foster home, following her everywhere. She’s fine to be left for 3 or 4 hours at a time, but she gets anxious if left any longer.

Minnie loves people and is good with children – she’s met ones of 8 years upwards recently and been fine with them. Minnie barks at other dogs but she isn’t nasty. During her time in kennels she only socialised once with a female dog. It is possible that she could be homed with another dog but that would depend on how they got on when they met. Minnie doesn’t like cats.

Minnie’s a well-behaved girl who is great on the lead, but she doesn’t come back when called and so she will need training to address this. She’s very good in the car: she sits in the back and obediently lies down when told

Loyal Minnie loves to curl up with her foster carer’s daughter. She also loves to walk but she doesn’t pester to go out. Minnie would like a home where she can enjoy being with people and where she gets nice walks. She is fairly lively so is happy to have lots of walks but she’s also happy on days when she only gets a couple of walks – she’s just an easy-going girl. She would be happiest in a home where she isn’t left for long periods.

She loves a fuss but she isn’t demanding of attention: she lies down and doesn’t pester. She loves people regardless of gender or quantity: she goes out for a family tea once a week with her foster carers and there are 9 adults and children there – she enjoys herself and doesn’t get too excited.

Minnie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. At her vet-check she was given a clean bill of health apart from her teeth needing a bit of a clean.

Minnie’s foster carer sums her up as follows:

Minnie is a lovely lady who fits in with any situation without moaning. She may be 10 but she has the activity level of a much younger dog when on walks. Saying this, she is just as happy curled up close to her owner. Inside the house, Minnie is no trouble at all and is well trained and obedient. She has her space at the foot of my daughter’s bed where she will stay at night without moving until she is called for her morning walk. She doesn’t pester for food and will lie on her bed whilst we eat.

Anyone who adopts Minnie must realise that, because she has been in kennels for 11 months, she is not all that socialised with other animals, but that does not mean she couldn’t be. I think that she would be dominant with other dogs as she does like to mark her territory, but this again could be the result of being confined for a long period of time. As I write this she is lying quiet on my bed, happy for the odd scratch or stroke.

She lived her life with a man who had to go into sheltered accomodation so has been a faithful companion for most of her life, this is all she wants for the rest of it.

Archie – 18 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Labrador

Archie is an 18 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, possibly with a Labrador. He was a unloved and unwanted stray who was left to await his fate in a local pound and even in this stressful environment his lovely personality and nature shone through.
Archie is currently in a safe boarding kennels due to myself picking up an injury and hopefully he will be coming to stay once I am mended. The kennel staff rave about him especially how well he is doing and how eager he is to please you and loves to be around you. He meets numerous dogs whilst there and wants to say hello to them all even if they are not being nice back to him. His tail never stops swishing and he constantly looks to you for approval.

Archie would live happily with a submissive bitch although careful introductions would be required. Archie is fully clean in his kennel and does not destroy his bedding. Archie is a big strong boy and will benefit from further lead training as it is obvious he has not has not alot of training in this area but is coming on leaps and bounds with the training he has had so far.

Due to Archie’s size and strength he would be best to re homed with people who are used to big dogs and no children, not because he is aggressive but because of his size and he could easily knock children over without meaning too. Archie is a young dog who would benefit from a home who are actively out and about where he could go along. Archie will be castrated prior to him being rehomed and he will also be fully vaccinated. He went to the vets recently for a general check over and as the vet was trying to listen to his heart he just wanted to roll on his back and have his belly rubbed and generally charmed everyone at the vets.
He is a fantastic dog and would make someone a fantastic companion and once all his training is completed he will just be perfect.

Gilly – 3 year old female Labrador Cross

Gilly is a female brindle Labrador cross aged around 3 years old. She’s calm, friendly, confident and a waggy tailed girl.

Gilly was due to be put to sleep at the dog pound as she was an unclaimed stray and they needed the space for more strays. We thought she was such a lovely girl we brought her to our kennels as we knew we could find her a new home. Gilly is a really unusual colour yet clearly very Labrador! As we have no background information on her the kennels are assessing her temperament whilst she is in their care but first assessments are very good.

This dog is at Panton Kennels – Tel: 01673 858622. Please ring to make an appointment. As this is a private boarding kennel, appointments must be made before arrival to avoid disappointment.

Ralph – 6 year old male Labrador Cross

Ralph is a male black Labrador cross aged around 6 years old. He’s an obedient boy, slightly lankier than a Labrador who sits and gives paw to command despite being in new surroundings with many distractions.

Ralph has been rescued from death row where he was due to be put to sleep as an unclaimed stray. We thought this fabulous fella would make someone a great pet so gave him a space in our kennels until we find his forever home. Due to Ralph coming from the pound we have no background information on him but will be assessing him whilst he is in our kennels. He’s been with us since 23 December and first impressions are that he’s a really lovely boy.
