Lurcher Cross

Pucci – 9 month old female Labrador cross Lurcher

Please meet Pucci! This poor girl has had a sad start to life. She was found being beaten by her owner in a park and was removed from his care. She then spent 6 months of her life in case kennels while they built up a neglect case which then fell apart so she was then taken to the vet to be put to sleep where they refused and now safely in our care. She is 9 months old and is a good old fashioned Crossbreed.

We think she is Labrador crossed with Lurcher. She is good with other dogs but would benefit from further socialising. She will need an owner with previous dog experience to show her that the world is not such a bad place. This girl has spent most of her life in kennels and needs lots of love and attention. She is now spayed and can live with children aged 10 years plus.

Can you offer Pucci her truly long over due forever home? If so, please call 020 8341 3196.

Dixie – 4 year old female Lurcher Cross

Homing Requirements: Dixie needs a dog confident family who are understanding of her innate nervousness to settle with new people. As she settles and becomes confident, her beauty astounds. Dixie is focused on her toys and doesn’t easily share them, hence concerns about her around live-in young children. May relax with another dog if they are non-plus about toys. Dixie could live with older respectful children. Dixie can be left for short periods of time and is quite self contained.

Her Story: Dixie was handed over to a rescuer as 5 a month old puppy. She lived in a multi dog household with very young children. Her original owner reappeared insisting she was returned. Unbeknown to this rescuer, Dixie turned up in another rescue soon after. The rescue didn’t check the chip and homed her 3 years ago with her current family: Their baby’s arrival 18 months ago changed the dynamics within the family and her owners are nervous of having their toddler around Dixie. They will try to hold on to Dixie until her home is found. Dixie is spayed, chipped and fully vax’d.

Advert: Dixie is a very lovely dog, conscious to please her owner and appeals for permission. She runs like the wind and can be trusted off lead with good recall. However she has the chase drive of a Lurcher, so need to be conscious if spotting livestock and cats before her and reconnect her on a lead. She loves puppies and smaller dogs: Has told a few larger dogs off, but then she is a bitch after all. She loves to play fetch and shows intense concentration when playing. She has trouble releasing her prize and often 2 objects need to be engaged to achieve surrender of the first. Dixie isn’t treat orientated but is definitely praise orientated. She travels in the car well. Dixie is nervous meeting people but settles. She would love to accompany her owner jogging or cycling.

Dixie is a slender bull lurcher who stands tall and elegant. She has the most beautiful yellow eyes. Her eyes feature greatly as a sight hound cross; she searches, surveys and is very visual. She has a nervous side which will need work by her owners to help her to invest her trust in new people, but once she does, she is smitten, as are they!

Pip – 6 month old male Collie cross Lurcher

Pip is a 6 month old male collie cross lurcher. Pip is a friendly young boy. He came into rescue because his previous owners didn’t realise just how excitable he was! He loves his walks, and almost ‘floats’ – gracefully trotting along side his walker. As he is a lurcher cross border collie he is a freindly, clever boy, who loves to play and fetch a ball for you. He is good on the lead, though a little ‘bouncey’ and puppy like, so wears a harness so when he jerks on the lead – he won’t hurt himself, this behaviour is trainable. He isn’t cat friendly so a home is needed without small furries. He would be good with children, but perhaps older children (10yrs +) Please consider young Pip Pup to be your new best friend. Pip is kennelled in Coningsby, Lincolnshire, please call Jan 07900558952.

Bailey – 3 month old male Lurcher cross

This gorgeous little brindle boy is Bailey, he’s a 3 month old cross-breed who has had a very unusual start into the big world. He and his 7 brothers and sisters were born during transport from Durham to our kennels in Shropshire. His mum Peggy is a small wire coated Lurchercross and she had all 8 puppies during the journey, she turned out to be an absolutely fantastic mum and luckily all her pups have inherited her super temperament. It is thought that dad is a Staffie.

Bailey is vaccinated, micro-chipped and wormed. If re-homed locally the new owner will be able to have free castration done at our vets. Anyone out of the area can either bring the pup back to be neutered or have it done at their own expense at their own vets before the dog is 6 months old. It’s a condition of adoption and will be checked up on.

Mischief – 8 week old male Lurcher Cross

Mischief is a sweet 8 week old Lurcher puppy handed in with his 7 siblings. His mum was a Greyhound and his dad was a Saluki. He is a sweet boy, full of life and fun. Mischief needs an active home that can fully commit to him for the rest of his life. He’d like to go to training classes once he has finished his vaccinations and it is important that time is put into training him with positive reinforcement.

When he is 6 months old, he must be neutered at his new owner’s expense. At this time, we will refund £40 of the adoption fee. He has been micro chipped and begun his vaccinations. Here’s what his foster mum has to say about him; Mischief is gorgeous, with such a sweet little face. He loves to play, run and jump and he has just found out today that he can climb on the sofa!

We are working on his toilet training. He is good with other dogs but not so confident around them – he will go to say hello and he enjoys time in the garden with them but then he is happy to be separated from them. For a while at least! Being 8 weeks old he loves to play high energy for an hour at a time and then flake out for a few hours. He does like to sit on your lap for a cuddle but will equally settle on your feet.

He is a sweet boy who will make a wonderful pet to any home that can fully commit to him. Mischief can live with other dogs, children and cats. He is currently on foster in Plymouth but we re home across the UK.

If you’re interested in adopting Mischief, please read our adoption guidelines and procedure;

Chico – 3 year old male Collie cross Lurcher

Chico is a lovely medium sized collie cross lurcher. He has a sweet nature, good recall and loves to fetch a ball. He is bouncy but trainable and has lots of potential for an active family. He does not do sheep or cats though. Chico recently spent a few days in foster and this is his glowing report.

This 3 year old Collie cross Lurcher, although initially bouncy when meeting new people at the kennels, is anything but in a home. He enjoys human company but is not needy, preferring to find a nice comfy spot nearby to catch 40 winks. Over the 4 days and 3 nights he was in foster Chico was 100% clean and slept right through every night, greeting us in the morning with some gentle kisses and a toothy grin.

Out and about – Chico travels well in the car, walks perfectly on the lead and has good recall. His favourite thing in the whole world is a good game of fetch (or any other game you can think of). Over the weekend he went to Ellesmere, Llangollen, Chirk Car-boot and Shrewsbury, where he met lots of people, kids and other dogs and was great with them all. He coped with crowds, snappy spaniels and passing horses!

Chico is a very clever dog, who is extremely trainable and eager to please. He may enjoy taking up new hobbies such as agility, but seemed quite happy with a good walk followed by a snooze. This handsome lad has been in kennels for 12 months, and has so much love to give. Could you be his new family?
