This is Roddy, approx 12 month old rough coated lurcher-he is being fostered with two other dogs and three kids, aswell as chickens and rabbits, which so far he has turned a blind eye to! He has had mange, but is recovering well, and will soon be such a stunning boy. He only arrived today, but so far he has been so good, very friendly and playful, great with the other dogs, and listens well. He also tolerated a bath and a brush really well, so all in all a typical laidback lurcher! Will be testing off lead recall in next few day, but he walks nicely on lead and really enjoys going out. MOre info to come but call ddr if you would like to meet the lovely Roddy

We do not know much about his start in life but Dandi is the finest, chipper little white and brindle whippy/lurcher puppy you could hope to meet. He looks so appealing and also is charming. He’s a calm and gentle little man who’s already learnt about the home comforts of soft beds and radiators.

Dandi is in foster with a young lurcher and a cat so is learning his place in the pecking order. Dandi’s very respectful of his elders and definitely of the cat who stands no nonsense. We think he’s about 4/5 months old weighing in just under 10kg.

Dandi walks nicely on the lead and seems to be house trained as no accidents in his foster home where he’s taken out when he goes to the door. Dandi is being crate trained which he’s taking to nicely but he does like the tv or radio on so he doesn’t feel alone.

We are looking for a lovely home for Dandi with somebody around most of the time and dedicated to

putting in the time and work required to raise an all round nice pup.

Hi, my name is Widget and I’m about a year old. People say that I could be a Whippet cross Terrier of some sort. I love being around people and having lots of cuddles but can get a bit sad when I move somewhere new and I’m left alone. Once I know the hoomans come back and I have a routine I’m happier and go to sleep in my crate like a good boy. I’m nice and quiet over night and likes a lie in.

Because I’m still young I really like playing with other dogs, but my foster mum says I need to learn some manners about meeting new dogs nicely. I’ve never been to school either, so apparently I need to do that – yawn – but my fostermum says that I’m very responsive to what she says – what ever that means!

I can run really really fast and love chasing my foster sister around the garden. I’m not allowed to run about outside the garden yet, as I don’t know my name. I also love toys, especially furry, squashy ones and I gather them up and put them in my bed along with the odd shoe or boot.

Widget’s fostermum says:

Widget is a very affectionate little chap and really loves attention, but needs to be made to have time alone so he doesn’t become to needy. He’s very gentle and will let you handle him, check his feet, ears etc and you can remove his food bowl with no problems what so ever. As he’s only just been neutered and was also a stray, when his hormones settle and he’s had some training I think he’ll be a cracking little fun dog.

This beautiful girl is Sadie a 10 month old Lurcher, sadly she has come into our care through no fault of her own. Sadie was raised by her previous owner from 3 weeks old and formed a strong bond with her. Naturally she was unsettled and confused in her foster home for the first few days but has now settled in brilliantly. She can be initially a little unsure of strangers but with a little time and care she builds her trust and forms very loyal and loving connections.

Sadie is proving to be an intelligent girl who is willing to learn and is eager to impress the people closest to her. She is housetrained and is living with 3 other dogs, 2 small children and a cat with no problems at all.

Sadie needs someone who understands her needs and is willing in the short term to spend time gaining her trust, in return Sadie will offer a lifetime of love and companionship.

Could this sweet and sensitive soul be the one that you are looking for?

Marco came to us a little while ago from a stray pound situation. This silly cheeky lad is so handsome. When he first arrived Marco was not comfortable around the other dogs but after castration and some time to settle he is now much better. We do feel though that if Marco were to share his home with another dog it would need to be female and quite a calm girl.

Out on the kennels walks Marco adores the volunteers and is fabulous with the children, we do feel children may need to be slightly older 6 plus as when first heading out he likes to have a bounce, spin and playbow. We can imagine in a home that Marco could turn into quite a cheeky player.

Marco does have the potential to be an only dog BUT he also has the potential to get VERY attached to his new family. We feel it’s imperative that if he went as an only dog someone would be around for the first couple of weeks to work with us to help us settle him down and get him use to being left gradually.

Marco has had two initial cat tests both good where he ignored the cat. However this will be repeated now as he has had time to build up his weight, gain in confidence so needs re checking.

Marco walks well on the lead, travels well and is good in his kennel, keeping it relatively clean so although he may need a little work with housetraining to begin with we do think he will quickly get the hang of it.

It would be advisable to take Marco to some basic training classes to help get him use to being around other dogs and make sure that he continues to build his confidence with them.

Marco is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and neutered.

For more information or to offer the stunning Marco a home please in the first instance take the time to fill out the pre adoption questionnaire below…

These pictures don’t really do Dino justice as they were taken the day he landed from the pound. He has gained so much weight and condition since these were taken and he looks so beautiful now. Dino is one of the firm favourites at the kennels. He is a really soppy loving hound and gets on well with all the other dogs and adores the walkers and children.

Out and about on the kennels walks he is quite excitable when he first comes out of his kennels and walks and barks for the first couple of minutes because he wants to be at the front of the pack but soon settles down and is very attentive to commands. When dogs on the walk lunge at their gates and bark at the kennels dogs Dino does not join in with the ones who react.

Dino is just a young lad and will need a home either with companion dogs or with someone around all of the time in the beginning to settle him as an only dog. Dino has now had four cat tests with the kennels cats and takes no notice of them, the most he has done is sniff their bum which earned him an attempted smack across the nose. This made him back up instantly. That said, if in a home environment the cats run he may attempt to chase so someone needs to be willing to put the work in to settling him down and getting Dino and the cats comfortable with each other.

Dino keeps his kennel relatively clean so although there may be a little housetraining work to begin with we think he will pick it up quickly and may surprise us by how clean he is when he first goes into a home. He settles well in his kennel and loves his toys and we all just enjoy spending time with this boy.

Dino will probably need some basic socialisation out and about and training classes may be a good idea to consider.

Dino is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and neutered.
