Lurcher
George – 2-3 year old male Lurcher
Beautiful George landed from the pound recently. He was rehomed directly through them but bought back when his new owners returned to work quite quickly after a few days and he could not cope. These are not the best photos of this boy he is STUNNING but was very thin on arrival in our care.
What we already know about George… When George was with the people who took him from the pound they initially posted on Greyhound Gap. They had two cats and were worried about the introductions. I allowed them to bring George to the kennels and did a cat test and he was very well behaved around them. In the home they introduced them a couple of times with him on lead and he was good. I re tested him this week now he has gained a lot of weight and he was still relatively good but will be re checked.

George was very shut down when landing with us but after just a week in kennels gained a lot of weight and was soon a much happier, bright-eyed cheeky boy. He is good with all the other dogs at the kennels and seems to have quite a sweet gentle persona. We have no doubt he will be daft and giddy at times because he has the silly saluki side to him.
George needs a home with companionship from another dog, he enjoys being with them and his time in the home albeit only a few days, shows that he has the capabilities to develop separation anxiety when left. Ideally someone will need to be around for the first week or so to help him settle and feel secure in his new environment. That said he was fine with them over night and in the few days there started to pick up housetraining so that has already started and he should not take much more to get him fully clean.
He walks well on the leash and travels well and has been good with the children at the kennels. We feel he will be fine to be rehomed with sensible dog savvy children 4 plus who listen to their parents’ instructions of not overly fussing dogs or bothering them whilst they are asleep.
George is currently in kennels in Staffordshire and is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and will shortly be neutered before rehoming.

Stunning, stunning sweet Hagrid came into our care from a stray pound environment. The picture is not great as they were taken before he landed in our care whilst he was still serving his 7 days. On collecting this boy to come into our care it was easy to see that he was really not well so he was rushed straight to the vets where it was found he was suffering from parvo. It was touch and go as he took a long time to turn around but now is on the uphill climb.

Hagrid is ace! We all love him. He has come through so much but done it all with a wag of his tail and has such a sweet persona. Being a young boy he has an immense love of life and can be silly and will need some basic training so classes would be of benefit. He gets on well with all the other dogs at the kennels and has been lovely with the walkers and the children who visit. He should be fine to be rehomed with dog savvy children 4 plus.
Hagrid walks well in the main on the kennels walks, he does like a little hop skip and a jump now again but non of it is misbehaving just his general happy persona. He has been cat tested and although rather good showed a little bit more interest than we would like to see so we would rather not rehome him to a home with cats around.
We feel that with time and effort put in Hagrid could learn to be an only dog, someone would need to be around to settle him to begin with and work with us through that period. He would also be happy to co exist with other dogs. Hagrid travels well and may need some help with housetraining.
As Hagrid has had parvo it is imperative that all the other dogs in the house are up to date with their routine vaccinations.
Hagrid is now vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and will shortly be neutered now that he has fully recovered and is back up to full weight.
Hagrid is currently in kennels in the North Midlands. For more information or to offer Hagrid a home in the first instance please fill in the pre adoption questionnaire below..

Rocky 9 month old Lurcher Boy. Lovely Rocky was re homed as a pup but sadly he has been returned to us through no fault of his own. He is a very handsome lad and as he is still a youngster , he has huge potential to become a fantastic family dog. Rocky is a keen walker but he is responsive and he loves a treat so further training will be a breeze. He is a tall lad and he is very elegant with has beautiful markings. Rocky will need a home with an owner who is ready to continue to guide to becoming a well adjusted adult and an owner who is committed to him for his whole life. Rocky gets on well with other dogs and is fine to be handled.

UPDATE: Rocky is like Bambi, all legs and not quite under full control of them yet, he is still a puppy and full of enthusiasm. He is very friendly and loves a cuddle, he has some basic knowledge of commands and knows sit, he loves treats so treat based reward training would be easy with him. Rocky is a super boy who would suit so many homes.

Lola – 3 year old female Lurcher
Lola came into us recently with Bonnie, an older whippet. Lola was bought as a pup and has always. She lived in a home. Lola has moved to foster and here is what her foster mum says about her. Lola is a little girl who needs to blossom and she is very submissive to Bonnie. I think parting them will do her good.

Lola needs a dog to accept her on equal terms. Lola likes all mine very much and plays well with Pip my huge deerhound. Lola is a staffordshire bull terrier cross whippet and just like her sbt line she is a vocal girl who talks quite a lot and once you realise what she wants communication is very easy. She is sweet by nature nice to have around a generous little girl who will be a loving friend for you and your other dogs.

Hunter is a young Lurcher probably only around a year old. He’s good with dogs and children. Hunter is very good on the lead and is described by the kennel staff as a “very placid boy who is very friendly”. This boy really is adorable. He has an amusing habit of plonking his bum on your knee to get as close to you as possible. Hunter was difficult to photograph as he wanted to keep going to say ‘hello’ to the photographer. A lovely lad who really will make a smashing family pet.

Please could you put our little man into the lurcher category, thank you. Robbie is an adorable little lurcher boy, estimated to be about 8 months old. Robbie came to us from the pound where he had served his time after being taken in as a stray so we don’t know his history.
He is a friendly little chap, affectionate and very playful. At just 14 kilos he is a very nice size for a cuddle. Robbie is a bit of a live wire and will need a home where he is going to get plenty of interaction. He is still very much a puppy and will need someone who is going to set him boundaries and teach him how to adhere to them.
If you think you can offer Robbie the type of caring home he needs then please get in touch 07000 785 092. Don’t hesitate, this boy won’t be hanging around long!
