Patterdale Terrier

Rolo – 8 year old male Patterdale Terrier

Rolo is a little 8 year old Patterdale Terrier in need of a loving home, through no fault of his own, due to his owner’s change of circumstance. He is a very loyal little dog and would make the loveliest little friend, lying by your side or at your feet. Rolo is fairly sensitive to high pitched noises, and will go and hide in a corner as far away as he can get. Rolo is very friendly towards people but does not like cats.

He has lived with another dog Meg (also available) from puppy hood. but doesn’t like all dogs. Rolo has a slight heart murmur but this hasn’t caused him any problems in the past. He likes a walk and a run around, but at the end of the day is a little stiff and slows down. Rolo would make the most loyal and affectionate little friend.

Bessie and Bullseye – 7 year old male and female Lakeland Terrier and Patterdale Terrier cross Jack Russell Terrier

Homing Requirements: Bessie and Bullseye are a devoted couple. Their family will need to be empathetic to the fact they haven’t lived in a house before and be prepared to induct and instruct them. They need their own secure garden to optimise housetraining within and exit management as with any terrier. Potential owners should be financially able to support 2 dogs.

Bessie

Their Story: Bessie’s owner got her at the age of 2 1/2. She had a litter of puppies. Soon after her owners acquired Bullseye as a puppy and he grew up with her, she accepted him as if her own. They have lived out in a small garden in a kennel with a run. They have been around a baby, now a toddler, but mainly kept outside and away from the family. We have neutered, vax’d and chipped them and need to take them into kennels on the 22nd May as their landlady is evicting them!

Bullseye

Advert: Bessie and Bullseye are a very close couple. They appear self-contained emotionally as terriers do, but weave back towards each other, usually sealed with Bullseye licking Bessie’s muzzle. They seem very adaptable and weren’t phased by meeting ducks and swans in a local park. They met dogs off lead quite well: Bullseye a little excited but managed well and soon settled. They will need time to adjust to formal walks but oh how they will enjoy the stimulation. Having both lived outside they should easily come inside with an astute focus on housetraining and allowances made as they develop a sense of home rules and ‘place’. They are both affectionate and their energy levels are quite calm for terriers.

Bessie a black and tan wire-coated small terrier. Her breed type is a Fell terrier but referred to as a ‘Working’ Lakeland. Bullseye is a Patterdale cross Jack Russell again with a wire coat but larger. Both are overweight and a little out of condition. They have lacked an active lifestyle. Neither are barky. If you have had 2 dogs before or are looking to build to two eventually…why not take advantage of a harmoniously devoted couple.

Little Ben – 8 month old male Patterdale Terrier

Little Ben is an 8 month old Patterdale Terrier who has missed out on his early puppy socialisation. He is a very sociable lad and is fantastic around people, but needs a firm, confident and consistent handler who can help him learn to relate well with other dogs. He is currently a bit scatty and needs some direction.

Patterdale Terriers, although small, are working dogs who need exercise and mental stimulation and are not “lap dogs”.

Coal – 2 year old male Patterdale Terrier

Coal is a 2 year old Patterdale Terrier. He is an adorable boy with a very sweet personality. He can be a little shy and unsure when first meeting new people but soon makes friends and loves to play with his toys with you. He gives kisses and cuddles and even sits back to give you both is paws. He doesn’t enjoy being in kennels but loves time in the kennel kitchen playing with his toys and lying on his bed. He loves his daily walks and is generally a happy boy.

He is looking for an experienced dog owner who will allow him to settle into a new home and gain his confidence with new people and new situations as he may not have been treated kindly in the past. He can be very worried if ‘crowded’ by someone he doesn’t know. He does not like cats and can be selective with some dogs so would prefer to be an only pet. He is not unlike many other terriers in that given the opportunity he would chase cats. Coal could live with children over the age of 14 years in an experienced home.

MacTarn – 2 year old male Patterdale Terrier

MacTarn is a 2 year old male Patterdale Terrier and has come from working stock, if not worked. He arrived into rescue a year ago in poor condition, but has since been loved, cared for and proved himself to be a great companion. He mixes with dogs well outside. His recall is not brilliant due to his working traits. Had one scuffle with another dog, but as this turned out to be a neighbour’s dog, his owner found it too difficult to continue with him as it put their relationship at risk. MacTarn is neutered, vaccinated and chipped.

MacTarn is a delightful chap who to the terrier owner is an easy dog. He has a very personable character as Patterdales do, which makes them delightful to own. He is a dear, through and through. He is also a terrier through and through. He is young, in good health and awaits his new family, what a treasure they will find him.

“Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a ‘forever’ home is found”.
