Retriever Cross

Chappie – 2-3 year old male Retriever Cross

Meet Chappie, Chappie was with Brenda quite a while as we all know the bigger black males are often left on the shelf, so we sent money and passported Chappie as we love our black boys. Chappie is a Retriever cross and is about 2-3 years old, very sweet gentle boy and submissive with males and females.

Chappie loves woman, he would make an excellent companion dog as is low maintenance, can be an only dog or can go with others.

Coco – 3 year old male Retriever Cross

Coco is another happy, waggy dog. She is possibly a Retriever cross, slightyly wiry haired and about three years old. She was rescued as a puppy in Romania and has been lucky to have been in a foster home rather than a shelter for the last three years so she has no clue that she is rescued and cannot remember any hardships she may have suffered.

Coco charms the pants off everyone she meets. Sadly we have no foster spaces available at the moment but even in kennels she is a happy, affectionate girl who has made a hit with the kennel staff. Coco could live with another male dog but her ideal home would be as an only pet.

Because she is so eager to be cuddled its probably better that she doesn’t go to a home with very young children as her enthusiasm may bowl them over.

Al – 7 year old male Retriever cross German Shepherd Dog

Big joy Al is a 7 year old male Retriever cross German Shepherd Dog. There is no denying that this is a dog that makes an impact. I think he is possibly curly coat retriever crossed with a German Shepherd Dog with an element of horse thrown in for good measure. Alf has the most charming of characters and I defy anyone to be scared of him despite his large size. All day long his tail wags and his face is alight with a smile or a grin. He loves to be around people, he adores children. Thankfully he is good on a lead because frankly I weigh less than 8 stone and I think if he wanted to go his way and not mine there would be a problem.

Alf is currently living with many other dogs and is mostly very good with them. He prefers the bitches, does grumble at some of the males but doesn’t take it any further than that but at the moment does need to be fed separately. It’s blatantly clear that its been a long long time since Alf missed a meal but old habits die hard and although he tends to pick at his food he doesn’t want the other dogs having it either. He has no food issues with people.

This boy has definitely won the hearts of everybody he’s met since arriving in the UK, mine included, having said that I will be very pleased when he finds a home as there is limited space here and he does have a tendency to fill doorways. Since Alf has picked his favourite bed he has spent an awful lot of time sleeping but he does love his walks and to get out and about and he will need regular exercise to lose a few pounds.

All in all Big Al is the king of all that is awesome and anyone would be lucky to have the boy in their lives.

Saffy – 4 month old female Collie cross Retriever

Saffy is a 4 – 5 month old Collie cross Retriever puppy who came to us from a breeder who was unable to sell her as she has a very undershot lower jaw. This causes her very few problems and you wouldn’t really notice it unless you looked closely, it just makes her look as if she is permanently worried! She eats well although dry food is best for her as wet tends to stick to her bowl and she then finds it difficult to pick up.

Saffy was a terrified bundle of fluff when she came to us but she is now gaining hugely in confidence daily. She is a typical puppy, very playful and cuddly when she is in her home environment however she is still terrified of new places and sounds for example the Vet’s was very scary for her as are loud noises – vacuum cleaner, drills etc. and she will come needing reassuring cuddles.

Saffy loves her toys, gathering them up and hiding them in ‘her’ crate where she thinks the other dogs won’t go. She will chew anything she can get her teeth on – TV remotes, chair legs, garden plants, fingers – and she loves to shred newspapers. Having said that she is no different to any puppy of her age and is, in fact, the sweetest pup you could hope to meet – everyone who sees her falls for her instantly!

Saffy still has a long way to go in overcoming her fears and as a result she would be happiest in a home where there are no young children and preferably where there is already another dog who she can play with and who will gently encourage her and help her. Please consider fully Saffy’s needs before applying, in time she will become the most devoted and loyal dog you could ask for but you must be able to make a long term commitment to her.

Saffy has been vaccinated and micro chipped and will need to be neutered at the correct age (reduced cost neutering available at our vets) as part of the adoption agreement. She is currently on foster in Guildford, Surrey.

Fanta – 22 month old female Retriever Cross

Fanta is a 22 month old female Retriever Cross. Lovely Fanta is big, black and beautiful with a lush black coat. We think as she is such a nice friendly loving girl with big brown eyes she must have been in a home before, as she walks on the lead perfectly and sits and lays down on command. Who could throw away a dog like this?

She was left at the shelter gate in Spain. We know she likes other dogs and loves people so we want a home where the people are about, that would be nice for her. She has a strong personality, and can be a little pushy when she wants a fuss, but she is very intelligent and will make a loving and loyal companion. Maybe better homed as an only dog or with a male dog. His current location is in a foster home in Birmingham, West Midlands. He is vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, spayed, microchipped and Pet Passport.

Maisie – 4-5 year old female Retriever Cross

Maisie is a 4-5 year old black, Retriever cross. She is fabulous with children, cats and other dogs – and lived with 5 children in her previous home. Maisie is house trained and a wonderful girl. Her only fault is that she is very strong on the lead and would benefit from walking on a head collar.

Maisie would make a fantastic family pet. She has such a pleasant nature than when you look at her you simply want to smile. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, flea’d, wormed, veterinary health checked and assessed. Maisie is available for rehoming subject to a satisfactory homecheck and a minimum donation of £150.

Beans – 7 month old male Collie cross Retriever

Please meet beautiful Beans. Beans is an approximately 7 month old Collie cross Retriever puppy who was abandoned on the streets of Romania with this brother and sister. Beans has been vaccinated and microchipped and will need to be neutered as part of his adoption agreement once he is old enough. He also has a pet passport. Beans is in foster in Essex.

Here’s what his foster mum says about him –
Well what can I tell you about Bean’s – since he has arrived here in foster he has come on leaps and bounds he is very shy at first till he gets to know you but once he does he certainly loves you. Bean’s listens to everything going on around him and watches and takes things in. He is crate trained and house trained and has slept very well. He would thrive on some reward based training and he will ask to go out to the toilet. When out and about Bean’s is shy to start with then he comes out of his shell and will ponder about sniffing and learning new things. He walks lovely on the lead , sometimes when he is worried he will bark at things but with a little training and learning that not all new things are scary he will over come this.

Bean’s would be love to live with a nice older dog that can help show him the world is not such a scary place and keep him company as he loves the company of other dogs, he does like cats in the house and is fine with a dog savvy cat but if tempted he will chase in the garden but he is still very young and this would be easy to train him not to do. Beans can live with older children, confident cats and he absolutely must be rehomed where there is already a resident dog for play and company

If you can offer Beans a place in your heart and your home, please fill in the pre adoption form on our website  www.sedogrescue.co.uk.

Snowy – 2 year old female Retriever Cross

Please meet super Snowy! Snowy is an approximately 2 years old Retriever Cross who was a street dog in Romania, she has been bought to the UK to give her the best chance of finding a family of her own. She loves people but is shy at first, until a few days ago she had not been walked on a lead or been inside a house so needs help learning about these new situations. For this reason she will need to live with another dog of similar size who can be a good role model to her and be company for her. Snowy is good with cats, chickens & ducks but will bark at horses as she doesn’t know what they are! Snowy can live with children 6 years plus, she has been neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and has a pet passport. This girl is looking for a kind and caring home that will help her when she is unsure of scary situations.

What her fosterer says about her:
‘Snowy is such a sweetheart who is eager to please, she showers you with kisses and cuddles but will jump up while giving her love. She is clean in the house, great with my dogs & cat and very playful, she loves toys! She has done very well learning to walk on a lead but knows exactly how to slip out of her collar and is very wary when you first put her lead on but this is getting better every day. I have not tried her off lead as at the moment I don’t think she’d come back but I think this will come with time. She visited the groomers and was perfectly behaved. She is used to going in a crate and will sleep quietly but also loves to sleep on the floor in our bedroom right next to me.

If you would like to offer beautiful Snowy a place in your heart and home please visit our website  www.sedogrescue.co.uk and fill in our pre-adoption form, we will be in touch!
