Chloe – 2-3 year old female Cross-Breed
Chloe is a female crossbreed of approx 2 to 3 years of age. Her breeding could be Bull terrier cross, Labrador cross, Boxer cross, it is all abit of guess work. Chloe came into our care from the pound at the eleventh hour when she was due to be destroyed, she was deemed “to ugly for anyone to want to rehome her after all had refused her and she had no where to go. To us she is beautiful and we are sure their is someone out there who will think just like us.

Although we have no history on Chloe we believe her life prior to coming into our care was not great, she was underweight just skin and bones when she came into our care and certain behaviours make us think she has been physically abused. She does shake with fear on occasions and will curl up into a tiny ball to make herself invisible and not be hurt. She is timid and will need a quiet home without children. She ducks her head as though she believes she is to be beaten and will jump with loud noises or raised voices.

Chloe was lucky enough to recently have a weekend break in a foster home, she was a quiet house guest, toilet trained, travelled well, she was timid but her foster mum believed in time she would learn she was not to be hurt and blossom. Chloe has one love in her life at the moment her walks and this is when she comes alive and you see a glimpse of the dog she will be in time, she adores going for a walk and will need a new home where she will receive regular exercise to keep her happy.

Chloe is looking for a patient quiet home, somewhere she can learn that she is not going to be beaten, where she can gain confidence and live a happy doggy life. She gets on well with other dogs but has not met cats. Can you give Chloe the chance she deserves at happiness.

Meet Hope, a 9 month old crossbreed who already has a sad tale to tell. Hope was found emaciated and being beaten in a park by her owner so she was removed from his care. Whilst the case against her owner was going ahead, Hope was kennelled for 6 months, the case fell through and as a result Hope was taken to the vets to be destroyed. A rescue angel stepped in to save Hope and find her a safe haven and she arrived in our care 26th February.

Suprisingly after all she has been through, Hope is still a friendly and happy girl. She greets everyone with a wag of her tail and she gives the best cuddles and kisses ever! She walks well on the lead although she does get giddy when she sees another dog. She takes food gently and will sit on command.
Hope has missed out on socialisation in her early years so needs someone to show her how to act around other dogs as she can be a little bit full on, we feel she could live with a male companion pending successful introductions. She hasn’t been cat tested and we feel she could live with older children.
Hope is spayed and will be vaccinated and microchipped and she is currently kennelled in South Yorkshire.
Could you be the one to offer Hope the stability of a forever home so she knows not all humans are bad?

Polly (pictured left) is a 10 months old cross breed. Polly is very lively and likes to say hello to all the volunteers here at the centre. Polly will need some basic training as she has had a lack of this in her previous home. She will need plenty of exercise to keep her mind stimulated as she is very intelligent. Polly will need a home where where are no young children due to her boisterous nature.

Laica – 1 year old female Cross-Breed
Laica is a medium sized furry beauty female, a cross-breed like her brother Leo or about 1-year. Laica likes a cuddle but is a little bit more “independent” than Leo, ie she’s happy to go off and amuse herself, hotly pursued by Leo wherever she goes. Out of the two, she is probably the “barker” – not incessant, but more “watch dog” – she’s very “collie” like – both intelligent but she seems to have the edge!

When it comes to the cats, she has not chased them but if she sees them it’s only now and again that she’ll bark – not an attack bark or chase, just a kind of “alert”. But she’s been in the same room as them and did nothing.

We would love Laica to be adopted along with her brother Leo if at all possible.

Laica is good on the lead and also fione with recall. Laica has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and wormed. Laica is being fostered in the North London area.

Leo is a medium sized very handsome fluffy male cross-breed of around 1-year old. Leo is extremely affectionate, he craves cuddles. He can be a little wary when first meeting people, he’s fine with men and women and small kids but will do a few “yaps” whilst wagging his tail when greeting people, it’s purely him being a bit unsure – but it lasts no longer than a minute and he’s in your arms!

Leo really gets on well with cats, ie he shows them a lot of respect. He is fine with dogs of all sizes and sexes but we’d really love Leo to be adopted along with his sister Laica, they adore each other and it would be hard to split them up. That said we might consider splitting them but only if both dogs go to a home where there is already a resident dog as they love canine company.

Leo is good on the lead and also fione with recall.

Leo has been castrated, microchipped, fully vaccinated and wormed. Leo is being fostered in the North London area.

Myrsini is a female mixed breed dog, probably German Shepherd & collie, of about 4 years. She has been at the rescue shelter in Athens for a couple of years, and has had no interest from local people other than wanting to chain her up as a guard dog. We will not let that happen, so Myrsini is coming to England! She’ll be here at the end of May.

She is a quiet dog, friendly with people she knows and a little wary of strangers. Myrsini walks very well on a lead – she never pulls, walks at the pace set by her walker, and will walk for hours if you want to!

When she is taken for a walk round the shelter, or outside on a fundraising day, she is quite happy to mix with people and other dogs without any problems. Myrsini is the favourite of a regular older volunteer at the shelter, so we know she will be a fabulous companion dog for an older person. She has also proved to be very good with children, although as she is a timid dog we would not home her where there are children under the age of 6 unless they have already lived with dogs.

If Myrsini has no home offer when she arrives, she will be fostered with one of our volunteers in the South East. It would be so much better for this beautiful lady to go straight to a loving family home.

Paddy is a ‘traditional mongrel’ and an older boy believed to be around 8 years old, but is absolutely adorable and seems to be phased by nothing. He walks very well on the lead and knows some basic commands. He was not doing too well in the kennel environment and is currently being cared for in a foster home where he is described as being a delight to spend time with.

Maisie – 5 month old female Cross Breed
Maisie, 5 month old female cross breed. Maisie is a very sweet girl who needs new owners with time and patience to bring her out of her shell. Maisie has not had the best start in life and really would love to find her forever home.

As she is shy a home with adults and older children who understand she may initially be a little scared would be best.Maisie has been vaccinated and micro chipped and will need to be neutered when old enough. Maisie is on foster in Swindon Wiltshire.

Ty – 11 year old male Cross-Breeds
Homing Requirements: Ty & Rocky are a harmonious pair who would love to be homed together but could go into individual homes with another dog. They are currently fostered in separate homes. Ty is settling in a domestic home for the first time, in foster, having been kennelled all his life. He is responsive to vocal direction and adapts well.

His Story: Ty always lived outside in the garden. Rocky was a pup who joined him in 2006 but did spend more time in the house. Neighbours complained about the dogs being left in the garden with no supervision whilst the family were at work. The dog warden alerted us and we agreed to take them. Now neutered, chipped and vax’d.

Advert: Ty is superb and is adjusting to living with another dog in foster. He could be homed in with another dog if a home isn’t possible for himself and Rocky. Whilst an ideal pair we are now exploring homing separately but with at least one other dog. At the moment there still is the opportunity to home as a pair. Ty is currently excitable, settling into a home but taking his lead from his foster doggie friends. Ty is used to being left for long periods. Ty has never been ill treated and is very loving and well mannered with people; a true gentleman.

Just look into his face so lovely, gentle, and so good looking. Ty walks well on the lead, practically to heel. Meeting dogs he needs a little space to say hello. Ty was always an ‘on lead’ dog. Ty is in excellent health despite his hard life and his older age. Good around children. Travels well in a car. A diamond dog; so happy and so pleased to share company.
