Unknown Cross Medium Size
Lily – 2 year old female Cross-Breed
Lily is a medium sized cross-breed female of around 2-years. Lily had a bad start in life but that is all behind her now. Her foster carers tell us that she is an enchanting dog who understand commands like ‘Lily NO’ & if she barks a lot they only need wag a finger in front of her & she stops. She responsive and intelligent.

Lily will eat very quickly but she’s only been in foster for a few days and will calm down once she relaxes and trusts that more food will be coming. She will also seek out any hiding spots in the garden and is curious to see what’s the other side of the foster carers 4-foot fences but again, she has only been in her foster home for a short time and will soon feel so settled that she won’t even consider escaping or going off on an adventure!

Lily enjoys being brushed with care & she loves attention & affection. She really is a sweetheart! Lily has the ability to make you smile & laugh and all she asks for in return is love. She is good on a lead and enthusiastic to go on walks. Recall has not yet been tested.

In summary, Lily is a loveable dog & understands so much, whoever adopts her won’t be disappointed. She is easily taught new tricks, she will also teach you, she has a wonderful nature & will care for you as much as you care for her. She is also very clean in the house.
Lily currently lives as an only dog but we’d love to find a home for her with some canine company if possible although a home where she will have human company for most of the day will be considered too. We would prefer an adult home or one with children aged 12+ years only due to the lack of history as Lily was picked up as a stray.
Lily has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and wormed. Lily is being fostered in the Essex area.

Harry – 1 year old male Cross-Breed
Hello, my name is Harry. I’m a one year old male mixed breed. I arrived at The Mayhew after being found abandoned on the streets of London. I am a very friendly, playful and active boy. I know the basic commands and I’m starting to learn manners. I am intelligent with great motivation so I pick up new commands quickly. I get along well with everyone I meet, always greeting people with a waggy tail and I also get along well with other dogs. I enjoy going to the park and I have a good recall off my lead. I also love to play with my toys. I am an affectionate dog and I love nothing more than cuddling into people for affection.
I am now looking for a forever home with someone who has owned dogs before and has researched my breed type. I would happily live with sensible children from twelve years of age and upwards and I could live with another female dog providing we’re the right match but no cats please.

It is not yet known how long I cope being left alone for so I will need a home where there is somebody around for most of the day. My new owners will be expected to continue my training, take me to training classes and provide me with a minimum of one hour of active off lead exercise in the park every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you will be taking on a fourteen year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
I hope to see you soon
Harry

Fred is a gorgeous 13 year old Crossbreed boy who came into our care with his lifelong companion, Peppy, after the death of their owner. And after only 7 weeks at their foster home in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, Fred has now lost Peppy – she became ill and had to be put to sleep. Poor Fred has lost his owner, his home, and his best friend, in close succession.

Fred and Peppy were like an old married couple, so Fred must be missing her. Let’s hope he quickly finds a new permanent home in which to come to terms with the rapid changes in his life.
Fred is a very loveable lad. He really enjoys playing with a ball in the garden. He is cheeky too and likes you to chase him to try to get the ball from him, and he seems as if he’s laughing at you when you don’t catch him.

Fred is good with other dogs, and is quite a laid back lad. Fred adores cuddles and will happily spend quite some time being stroked and petted until he falls asleep.
Here are a few more facts about Fred:
Good in the home: Fred settled at his foster home within 2 or 3 days. He is clean indoors with just an occasional accident. With another dog for company he would be happy to be left alone for a few hours and should be fine in a home with full-time workers so long as he had a short walk or garden break halfway through the day.

Likes doggie company: Fred would like to live with another dog as he has never been an only dog. Now that Peppy has died, he is following his foster carer’s dog around.
Good with children; Unknown with cats: Fred should be fine to live with 8+ year olds. We don’t know how Fred is with cats.
Enjoys walks; Good in the car: Fred is good on the lead and is having 3 or 4 short walks per day. Fred is good in the car.
Fred’s perfect home: Fred’s perfect home would be calm and quiet, with another calm dog for company. He’d like to have someone to play ball with him too.
Health notes: Fred is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated.
Foster carer’s summary of Fred: “He mixes so well and is such a lovely loving boy. He does love company though and is always happy to see any callers and will settle once spoken to and had a cuddle. He doesn’t ask for much and is quite a laid back dog. He’s a good Fred. ”
