Leila – 12 week old female Cross-Breed

This sweet little girl is 12 week old Leila, who is a cross-breed girl that has sadly found herself in our care as her owner’s landlord would not accept pets at the property. Although we can’t be a 100% sure we feel that she may have some Lurcher/Border Collie/Labrador in her breeding. She is a typical playful puppy who mixes well with other dogs and is young enough to integrate with cats.

Leila is currently in a foster home in Merseyside, Liverpool and will require a home with someone who is around for most of the day.
Please note that as part of the Liverpool Dog Rescue Policy ALL puppies must be neutered once they reach 6 months old and will be rehomed on a strict spay neuter agreement.

Minnie – 3-4 year old female Cross-Breed

Minnie is a small size super-sweet little girl of approx. 3-4 years old. She’s very dog friendly and seems to be fairly low energy. Minnie loves cuddles and is very affectionate. Minnie hasn’t been cat tested as yet. She walks well on a lead. Minnie enjoys canine company and we’d prefer her to be rehomed where there is a resident dog/s.

Minnie has been spayed, vaccinated, chipped and wormed. She is being fostered in the Ashford/Kent area.

Goldie – 18 week old male Cross-Breed

This is Goldie he is an 18 week old cross breed puppy. He is the most adorable little man, loving and friendly and will quickly become a devoted pet and companion. Both mum and Dad have been rehomed through the rescue (in fact both went into foster and ended up staying as such lovely dogs). The rest of the litter have all been homed and have quickly become much loved members of their families. I have a puppy from this litter (failed fosterer again!) and he is the nicest little dog you could ask for.

Petronel – 2-3 year old male Cross-Breed

Beautiful Petronel is a 2-3 year old small sized crossbreed. In Romania, a small dog was caught in a wire trap, almost strangled and cut in half by this wire. Someone came along and found him. But instead of freeing him, they beat him about the head. One eye was lost and damage to his brain caused blindness in the other eye. Abuse by humans at an unimaginable level. But now comes the real humbling factor. This quiet, pitiful little creature, damaged unnecessarily and brutally, when his rescuer sat and wept after hearing the vets diagnosis, came to her and put his head in her lap to comfort her. This brave, loving little guy now needs a home. A place of sanctuary, a place of safety… a place where he may dare to believe that there is someone out there who knows how to love… just like he does.

Petronel can be homed with other dogs, but as he is shy and gentle, it would be best if they were calm dogs. Also older children would be better that can respect his need for a relatively peaceful environment.

Petronel will be travelling from Romania to Hillside Animal Sanctuary at the end of January.

Thomas – 5 month old male Collie Cross

Who can resist this beautiful boy! Thomas is 5 months, and in foster with children, dogs, rabbits and chickens and is fab with all of them. he has had a bad start but is making huge progress every day, and is now very confident with people and will do anything for his ball! has just started walks after his jabs, and will need lots of socialisation as he still finds lots of things scary and so barks at things he is not sure of, but this is improving every day.

http://www.imagepuppy.com/shared/b55175bf71e75dcec8f954e36f93c333.jpg

He is off lead now, and prefers to copy the other dogs than listen to me, but I can’t blame him when he has waited so long for such freedom! He needs an owner either used to collies and their busy minds, or someone very committed to taking him to puppy classes and/or socialisation classes as both would really help him continue to progress into a confident dog. Please call Dorset Dog Rescue for more details on our lovely boy Tommy.

Joe – 14 year old male Cross-Breed

Joe is a happy little foxy crossbreed who is just 14 years old and is only 16” to the shoulder. He is in an Oldies Club foster home in Newbury, Berkshire and is hoping for a new home after an unsettling time. Poor little Joe spent three months in boarding kennels whilst his elderly owner was in residential care and hoping to return home to Joe. Unfortunately this was not to be.

Joe understandably took a few days to settle at his foster home as he was unsure what was expected of him and needed to determine what behaviour was acceptable. He was very good from the first night and slept quietly in the kitchen with his foster carer’s dogs. He is fully housetrained but did mark in the kitchen a few times initially but this stopped as he settled. He has been quick to learn and is now a charming, well behaved house guest.

Joe used to be an only dog and wasn’t used to being left much, however in foster care he has been fine when left for a few hours in the company of the other dogs. His foster carer thinks he will be happiest living either with other dogs or with someone around most of the time.

Despite being an only dog previously, Joe has behaved impeccably with his fosterer’s dogs. He has taken his cues from them, is not food possessive and waits his turn politely. He has met dogs of all sizes, male and female, when out and has been very friendly with them but not overly interested.

Joe has been fine with the cat in his new foster home and has just ignored it. We were told by a relative of his previous owner that Joe has lived with a cat in the past. Joe shows no interest in chasing squirrels etc. Joe has not lived with children but has met children when out and is happy to be petted. However, in view of his age and poor hearing, he would be best rehomed with dog savvy children of 12 years and over.

Loves long walks: Joe walks well on the lead and enjoys being on a flex-lead. His recall on the line has been good but due to his poor hearing he isn’t always very attentive. He is however treat orientated and is responding well to training. Although quiet in the house, Joe loves his walks and would be quite happy walking all day if possible. He currently walks for an hour at a time and shows no signs of tiring. He is a fit and active dog.

Joe absolutely loves going out in the car and he travels happily in a car cage. He jumps in and out of the boot easily and behaves excellently.

Joe enjoys… Walks; Trips in the car; Supervising the cooking; Gardening; Sleeping on your feet; Staring into your eyes. Joe dislikes… Sudden loud noises. He is happiest when he knows what is expected of him.

Joe’s ideal home: Joe’s perfect home would have lots going on, with plenty of walks and trips in the car. He enjoys the company of dogs, but he did live as an only dog with someone who was around most of the time. Joe needs an owner who will give him consistent guidelines so that he can be happy that he’s doing the right thing.

Joe is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. At his vet check he was found to be fit and well. He is a little underweight but is eating well and putting on weight now that he is feeling happier. He is hard of hearing but his eyesight is very good.

Foster carer’s summary of Joe: Active; Happy; Affectionate; Dog-friendly. Joe is an alert, happy little dog. There were a few issues to start with but Joe quickly learnt what was expected of him and as he has settled the issues have ceased. Joe is an affectionate dog who tries to please and will happily follow you around all day. He is interested in everything and certainly has no intention of acting his age just yet.

Della – 12 month old female Cross-Breed

Very petite little girl who has been timid and a little shy of the lead in kennels. She is starting to come around more and is happy to be in the outside kennels where she tries to instigate play with the dogs next door. She is quite timid of stranger and a little jumpy, therefore needs gentle and not full on handling if she doesn’t know you. She seems to still need some training with her basic commands.
