Born in October 2014, Charlie is a medium sized male disabled dog with a medium to long coat. He is currently in the care of RSDR waiting for someone to offer him a loving home. Charlie arrived at the shelter on Sunday 23rd October 2016. He was found in a ditch, unable to move with a broken back. The people who found him took him to a vet and they were advised to put him to sleep. They contacted us and asked if we could help.
We also didn’t want to give up on him so we arranged that he was taken to our local vet. When we collected him from the vets it was confirmed that he has two broken vertebrae so his back legs are paralysed. We were unsure of his future and didn’t know what his quality of life would be like but we have now tried him in a wheelchair and he took to it very well; there was no stopping him and he wasn’t content being in the yard at the shelter, he went up to the gate and wanted to test his new wheels on the road.
Charlie is a lovely boy who is very affectionate. He gets on well with the other dogs and recently helped another disabled dog Pippa settle at the shelter. He has been vaccinated, micro-chipped, treated for fleas and worms and comes with his own pet passport.
