Charlotte is a 5-year old Yorkshire Terrier who is being fostered in Newport, South Wales. Her true character is starting to emerge and we think she will become a kind gentle laid back dog just looking for a cosy sofa and an easy life with a family giving her patience, reassurance and understanding.
Charlotte is becoming more sociable with her foster family. She makes a lot eye contact with them and watches everything we are doing, but she loves to sleep. She can be nervous of visitors, especially children and will keep her distance from them. She is being fostered with two other dogs and initially would cower when the male approached her when she had food but once she became more settled she began to get better at trusting that he wasn’t going to fight her for it. We think she may be able to live with another calm, laid back dog but no one too boisterous.
Charlotte is not at all bothered about cats. She is fine to be left and is not destructive at all. She seems to enjoy her own company just sleeping her time away but does like to see you come back and wags her little tail when she sees you. She is scared of the vacuum cleaner but is ok with the washing machine. Loud noises do scare her and she will stress sometimes when being picked up. She has only just had her second vaccination so her foster mum has tried a lead a couple of times but she’s very nervous and will freeze. She’s scared of any noises outside and doesn’t know what cars are. We are sure, given time and lots of practice, that she will learn to enjoy walks on lead.
A home with at least one other friendly and gentle dog who can teach her how to behave like a dog. A sofa is a must as she loves sitting on the sofa. If you don’t like dogs on furniture then Charlotte isn’t the girl for you. Someone who is home most of the day who is willing to give Charlotte time and patience to help to further build her confidence.
Please remember, if you have a dog and it is not neutered, it is against our policies to regime a dog with you. Charlotte is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Newport South Wales.
If you are interested in adopting Charlotte please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form ( link here ) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
