Chester is a 6 year old male German Short-Haired Pointer. His owners were no longer able to provide for his care. Chester is a stunning dog. He can be a bit of a clown once he feels secure. Typically he is always ready for a walk or a game. But come bedtime wrap him in a blanket, preferably on your bed, where he is perfectly happy to act as your hot water bottle, or a nearby armchair and he is out for the count, and doesn’t move until you get up.
Chester is house trained. He is good with other dogs. He hasn’t met cats whilst in our care, so we don’t know how he is with them. He is friendly towards other people, but he can be hesitant with some and needs to be allowed to approach in his own time. He is not used to young children, and has had a bad experience with a toddler as a young dog. We feel Chester needs a calm adult home, in a rural area, where he can enjoy company and plenty of country / beach walks. He would not be a happy chap living in a busy crowded town or city environment, or left home alone for 8 hours a day.
Chester does pull on a lead, we are working on this. He seems to have a decent recall, but this has currently only been tested in known to be safe and secure areas. Chester is at the Sanctuary near Kidwelly in South Wales. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him at the Sanctuary, after completing an application questionnaire, and a home check.
