Hello, my name is Chico. I’m a four year old male Chihuahua. I arrived at The Mayhew due to my owner’s ill health. I’m a friendly and affectionate boy and I get along well with everyone I meet. I enjoy going to the park and I have a good recall off my lead. I get along ok with other dogs I meet out and about but I prefer to keep my distance and not interact with them.
I’m toilet trained, I walk nicely on my lead without pulling and I know the basic commands which I respond well to. I also travel well in the car. I’m not really into toys, I’ll play with them if encouraged but most of all I enjoy sitting on peoples’ laps and being showered with love and attention.
I’m now looking for a forever home with a person or family who have owned dogs before and have researched my breed type. I can live with sensible teenagers but I’d prefer to be the only pet in the home. I’ve been known to bark when I’m left home alone so I’d like to find a home where there is someone around for most of the day and I wouldn’t be suitable to live in a flat.
My new owners will be expected to provide me with a minimum of one hour of off-lead exercise every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you’ll be taking on an eleven year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
I hope to see you soon,
