The beautiful Chief, he is 9 months old medium sized cross breed and pretty much fully grown, we feel he is a Collie/German Shepherd cross Whippet. He is the other half of Missy (also featured on DogsBlog.com), the pair brought into our pound recently and under order of euthanasia. They had been handed in accused of sheep worrying which considering both were scared of their own shadow we find hard to believe.

On landing in our care it was easy to see that neither of these babies at such a young age had ever known a second of kindness. Both had never been shown how to walk on a leash and the minute you so much as looked at them they would drop to the floor urinating in fear. When you tried to walk them out they would crawl on their bellies under cars and just shake with fear at a human touch.

We left them together in kennels for a couple of months whilst their condition and weight built alongside their confidence. They have been taught not to fear but are still wary of men, and now both instead of acting feral on leash walk beautifully and enjoy their walks.

Chief is now in foster with four other dogs 2 male and 2 female and gets on well with them. He has been spotlessly clean and slept downstairs uncrated without any chewing or problems. He is still wary of the male in the house but is quickly learning to trust and strike up a bond.

Chief adores toys and will happily empty the toy box and play with himself or join in with the other dogs games. We feel to continue with confidence Chief would be best suited to a home with another young dog in there already he would totally love to be with a young playful female.

As with all young dogs Chief would need someone around all or most of the time to allow him to continue through his training. He would also benefit from classes to help his confidence building. Chief would make a fabulous agility dog for someone looking for a clever, willing to learn little dog who is fast on the move. Chief is deflead, dewormed, vaccinated, KC vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered.
