Clara is a 7 year old female Dachshund. Clara has come to us as she was no longer needed for breeding. Unlike most ex breeding dogs Clara is very happy with people and absolutely loves a cuddle and a tummy rub. She is very active and enjoys a play and a good walk in the woods. Clara loves her food and after her walk is quite content to cuddle up with you on the sofa. Clara loves human company and could over bond very easily.
Care will need to be taken by her new owners that this doesn’t become a problem. She could easily take over so firm boundaries will need to be in place from day one with this little lady. She is feeling happier at sleeping in her own bed and not needing constant reassurance. On walks she responds quickly to new smells like a typical hound, so firm recall must be in place before any consideration can be given to allowing her off lead. Clara is fine with other dogs and could be re homed with another similar sized dog or potentially as an only dog with experienced owners.
Clara adores children and greets everyone she meets with a very wiggly wagging tail. Older children only please as she is a tiny girl and could accidentally be injured in play with smaller children. She will need active new owners who are around for most of the day. Clara is currently on foster in Guildford Surrey. She has been neutered, had her first vaccination, had two small warts removed from her eyelids, a full dental with extractions and been micro chipped. She is also up to date with flea and worming treatment. Clara has been diagnosed with Dry Eye, she will require eye ointment for the rest of her life and this will not be covered by her insurance.
Please consider the cost implication of this before applying for Clara.
