Cleo – 9 year old female Collie cross German Shepherd

Hello, my name is Cleo, I am a 9 year old, female Collie cross German Shepherd. I came to The Mayhew because my previous owner was no longer able to care for me due to his ill health. I have been vet checked and I am a fit girl with a lovely glossy coat. I am now in a foster home until I can find a new lifetime home. I have only been with my foster family for a short time but have already settled down and my foster mum and dad say I am a very easy dog. Although I cried a little the first few nights, I am now happy to sleep in my bed in the kitchen and you don’t hear a peep out of me until the family get up in the morning. I am completely housetrained and I get on very well with my foster family’s son and daughter.

My foster mum takes me with her to pick up the children from school and I love the attention I get from all their friends. Although I don’t need a lot of exercise, I love to get out and about. I walk well on lead, and stay very close when off lead but still really enjoy an hour off lead pottering or running around in the park with my foster dad, and I’m good with other dogs when I’m out and about. I am relaxed indoors and love to snooze at your feet. Due to being separated from my previous owner I’m a little worried about losing people and every so often I like to have a sniff around and check out where everyone is. I have been fine when left at home alone for a couple of hours, although on occasions I cry for the first five minutes. I’d really like to find a home with calm patient guardians who are around most of the time as I really love to be with people.

I enjoy the company of children but would probably be better off with slightly older ones as I like my own space and some peace and quiet. I would also probably be happiest as the only dog in my new home, but I could live with another quiet dog after sensible introductions. My foster mum and dad say I am a very well-behaved, gentle and undemanding dog who deserves someone who will make me happy for the rest of my life and in return they will get a loving and loyal companion who will be lucky to have me. My new guardians will be taking on approximately a six year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.

Hope to see you soon, Cleo
