Codi - 5 1/2 year old female Rottweiler

Meet Codi a beautiful female Rottweiler aged 5 1/2 years old. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, flead/wormed, microchipped and health checked. Codi came into our care because the family’s 18 month old boy suffers with asthma, the doctor advised to rehome the cat and dog.

I’m glad I agreed to take her in as she’s been segregated from the family, being kept in a tiny cordoned off area in the garden or in a tiny utility room, she was outside in the rain when I got there. The owners came to us for help because they really want to do the right thing by Codi and have tried for months to rehome her.

Codi is very obedient and well trained, she’s very affectionate and just craves attention. The photos were taken when she was in a state of over excitement as she has been without proper attention for some months, even when she’s full of beans she will always obey the sit and down commands. She’s a very friendly dog, she has been brought up very well, she has a lovely temperament indeed and is good natured.

She has been brought up with cats and children, the only negative is that she’s not sure about other dogs, generally she will pull and bark at a dog but she’s easily distracted with a treat or command. However, she has always been very good friends with a relatives Terrier who she adores. I believe with some dogs she’s insecure due to lack of socialisation, perhaps with time and controlled socialisation she can have a doggy friend or two.

She is very large indeed, a stunning dog perhaps a little underweight but the vet says she’s fine really, it’s just that we’re used to seeing very stocky Rottweilers. She is rather smelly and is in need of a groom, indicative of a dog being outside a lot. She’s actually very good on the lead and travels very well. She is house-trained and loves being groomed and bathed.

We are looking for an experienced Rottweiler or large breed owner to give her the love and attention she so craves. Typical of a Rottie she wants to be with you and be part of the family, she needs a big garden as she loves to play and interact with you and balls, she’ll go forever if you let her! Older children only as she can be quite lively. She will be a very loyal dog and will give so much joy. She is NOT a guard dog and certainly will not be rehomed as an outside dog she’s very much a family dog, a big softie!
