Colin is a stunning looking 9 month old Great Dane. This boy is a delightful, enthusiastic character. When he first arrived some people thought he could have had mange but his coat was just in a very bad way. He did need worming and he has had a flea treatment, although no obvious signs of fleas. He has a good appetite and loves his food. He can be a bit worried with men to start with but that normally lasts about 3 seconds before he wants to be friends. He can be bouncy on the lead, which we are working on. He also needs to learn 4 paws on the floor as he seems to love looking into your eyes. He has shown no issues around people or dogs, he can be a bit of a bully with small dogs but is respectful of larger ones.
Colin is very good at counter surfing in the kitchen and with his size is quite an effective thief. He needs to learn some manners in the home; we do not think he has been in a home very much. He is reluctant to get off the sofa once he is on it and he needs to learn some boundaries with regards to where he puts his paws.
Because of his size and lack of training we would not want to home him with children. He needs a home where he will be exercised well and one that will commit to his training. It’s not his fault; he is a great boy just nobody has bothered to teach him anything. He is very friendly and a joy to have at the rescue.
