Darwin – 8 month old male German Shepherd Cross

Darwin is an 8 month old German Shepherd cross. He is the most loving, friendly and loyal pup I have known. He has a big heart which has enough love to share round the whole family and you just can’t help but smile at him and give him big cuddles (and of course the obligatory belly rub!).

He is good with dogs and children but is very bouncy and playful and he does jump up at people. Out and about Darwin can pull on the lead but after a good run he calms down and will walk to heel with loose lead. He has good recall and will happily fetch and retrieve toys, tennis balls etc. Darwin is very fast and whilst in ‘run’ mode he sometimes forgets how to stop and can be a bit clumsy (the stop barrier could be your leg). This is getting less frequent as he learns to cope with and control his growing legs.

Cats – not sure but he didn’t react to one that crossed his path slowly the other week. However if it had of ran, he may have wanted to chase but I don’t think he would intend to harm. Darwin’s worst bad habit is that he will steal food if he sees the opportunity, this he often sees before you’ve realised. If you catch him in the act or just before, he will respond to ‘down’ or ‘leave’ commands.

Darwin will need to continue his training and we expect any new owner to enroll in training classes. Is neutered, microchipped, vaccinations, flea treatment and worming are up to date.
