Dasher – 1 year old male Lurcher

Dasher is a beautiful, affectionate, young Lurcher, either Deerhound Cross or Bedlington Terrier Cross who is 1 year old and has had an unlucky start in life.

He came into the rescue from a pound so must have been abandoned and had to fend for himself at a very early age. How frightening that must be when he was little more than a puppy.

For this reason his new owners need to have a good understanding of rescue dogs and will need to set him clear non – confontational boundaries.

In his early life he will have had to defend food in order to survive and now he needs someone who will work with him, with our support, to help him adjust to the comfort of life in the home.

He has already tried life in a with a family who were inexperienced with dogs and felt unable to help him learn the boundaries about living in a home. They sensibly returned him so that he could start a new life with someone who understands his needs better.

During his time in the home he was very much loved. He is affectionate, clean in the house, good on the lead and has good recall.

*Update* Dasher is now living in a foster home with two other Greyhounds. This has given us time to really assess the type of home that Dasher needs. He does not cope very well with change and needs a home that will be able to provide him with clear boundaries and plenty of consistancy. He needs an experienced owner who will be able to help him to reach his full potential.

He is a lovely dog who really does want to please, he does have a lot to learn to get it right and is a very intelligent boy

In a previous home he has been taught basic commands and easily picks up new things.

Dasher gets on well with the dogs in his foster home and would play with them all day if they had as much energy as him. He just loves to play and have fun.
