Declan – 4 year old male Greyhound

What a lad I love love love this dog! Declan is a 4 year old Greyhound male who recently came into our care from a stray pound environment and we strongly suspect that he has been in a home situation at some point so who knows how he ended up as a stray.

Declan is such a steady, well balanced boy that he is going to make someone a fantastic dog. On arrival at our kennels I put him into a holding pen without a bed whilst I nipped to set up his kennel and bed. On returning he was lying flat out on the concrete roached against a wall. For those who know Greyhounds they know that this is a miracle. I will also never forget him landing at the kennels with the volunteer transporting him in the back of the car roached against the windows. The first view I saw of Declan was his feet.

Declan is in foster with 2 Greyhound females and a male all of whom he gets on well with. The male he is fostered with has never been a great player or interacted with other dogs even the ones he lives with but adores Declan and they play silly up on the back legs rarr-rarring games together.

Declan is clean in the house, fine to be left and walks well on the leash, he doesn’t seem at all phased by other breeds and appears to have been well socialised. All in all Declan is a perfect dog. His only vice is he does like his personal space. If disturbed when sleeping he will give a growl and huff off.

Also sometimes when enjoying a cuddle he will decide enough is enough mumble and trot away to a more comfortable quiet spot. Declan loves children but because of the aforementioned we would prefer not to home him with children younger than teenage.

Declan would adore the company of another dog but we feel would equally adapt to being an only dog with someone around for him. This boy is such a dream its hard to imagine how he ended up in our care in the first place. Declan is vaccinated, KC vaccinated, deflead, wormed, micro-chipped and castrated.
