Dee is a 4-5 month old Collie cross Kelpie girl who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. She is a high-energy girl who is looking for an active home where her family are committed to her ongoing training. She is not a beginner’s dog and does need a lot of time and training invested in her, but she is a quick learner, and will reward you tenfold. Dee is a typical puppy and loves other dogs as life is one big game, however, older dogs would get fed up with her constant demands for playtime. Dee hasn’t met any cats since being in her foster home but giving consideration, with her full-on personality, we believe that she would chase them.
Dee can be nervy towards strangers and will bark at them. She gains trust quickly and is getting better meeting people while on walks. She will not be rehomed with younger children but would be fine with dog savvy kids, 8 years and up. Dee becomes very excitable and ‘nippy’ when playing and the children in her foster home know to stop playing with her when she gets too excited so she learns this behaviour will not be rewarded. This training will need to continue in her new home. Dee sleeps in a crate at night and is happy to do so. She is scared of the vacuum cleaner and the food mixer so will hide away in another room. She chases the sweeping brush so any cleaning up can be quite difficult when she’s about! Dee has not been left for any period of time and as she is such a clever, active girl will need her owners to be around for most of the day to prevent boredom. Housetraining is a work in progress.
Dee is happy to travel in the car but will whimper a bit to start with. She is crated while travelling as she will jump all over the seats (front and back) if not. On walks, Dee isn’t keen on traffic and needs further confidence building in this area. She will try to pull away from them and is much happier walking on quieter country roads. We are looking for a very active home for Dee where her owners will take her to puppy training and socialisation classes and would be happy to work with her in activities such as agility, flyball etc to keep her brain amused, as well as long daily walks. She would love another dog of similar energy levels to play with and a huge garden to race around in where she can burn off excess energy and play to her heart’s content.
Dee is microchipped, up to date with her flea and worming treatment and her vaccinations. She is not yet neutered and it is a condition of adoption that her new family get this done when she is old enough. Follow up checks will be done. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet Dee in her foster home in RCT, South Wales.
If you are interested in adopting Dee please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form ( link here ) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
