Dexter – 11 year old male Corgi cross Bassett Hound
Dexter is a sweet 11 year old Corgi cross Bassett Hound. He has just the cutest face and shape (14″ to the shoulder and 25″ from neck to base of tail!). He came into Oldies Club care because his owner moved to accommodation where Dexter couldn’t go along. Dexter is in an Oldies Club foster home in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.

Poor Dexter is quite a sensitive soul and has felt very upset about his sudden change of circumstances. He seems to be missing his old family, bless his little cotton socks. His foster mum is therefore hoping he will find his new permanent home as soon as possible as, if he becomes too attached to his foster family, it will be yet another difficult transition for him when he goes to his new home.
Dexter would suit most homes as he’s a friendly, calm boy who likes a fuss and is happy with a couple of short walks each day. He can be left for 4 hours with no problems.
Dexter’s good with other dogs, great with cats and he likes everyone! He likes children but he can be possessive with his toys and he jumps when disturbed from his slumbers, so we would only rehome him where children are 10 years or older. Dexter is a good boy with his food and has no issues. He’s not keen on having his feet touched but the vet clipped his nails with no problem.
Dexter’s good on and off lead. In the car he is a good boy and settles straight away. Dexter has been vet-checked and was given a clean bill of health. He just needs to lose a couple of kilos. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm treated.
His foster mum tells us: At the moment he’s still acting withdrawn and is most likely just missing his old life, but he is eating and seems to perk up slightly on walks. I think it would be better for Dexter if he’s in his forever home sooner rather than later or he’ll become settled here and have to go through it all again. Potential new owners will need to be aware that he needs plenty of time to settle. He is currently wearing a DAP collar and taking Zylkene (a natural, calming remedy) to help him.
Poor Dexter! Can you offer this sensitive, affectionate boy a new home, ASAP?
