Diesel – 4 year old male Lurcher cross German Shepherd Dog

This is Diesel and he is a 4 year old male Lurcher cross German Shepherd Dog. He’s quite territorial with strangers and will need an owner prepared to visit him a few times prior to rehoming to ensure he builds his trust. Diesel has no history with other dogs, cats or children and will need an experienced owner prepared to go the extra mile.

He would benefit from further training around his territorialness. He’s a lovely and friendly waggy tailed boy when he knows you and we hope we can find the right home for him.

*Update from foster family*

If I had a pound for every wag of Diesels tail, I would be a very rich man! In the month that we have been fostering Diesel, we have observed his temperament closely, worrying that he might be a big boisterous boy. How wrong we were!! Diesel settled right in with us, proving to be a lovely friendly dog, always keen for attention, to come and give a paw, or just to lie down by your feet, generally very low maintenance. He enjoys his ‘walkies,’ is walking better on his leash every day, and responds well to his name being called. Around other dogs he shows curiosity, however at this stage we have not allowed him to get too up close and personal with them. In this area a spot of further training might well be of benefit in order to ensure a positive reaction in the presence of other animals. In the company of new faces we have noticed that at first he is ever so slightly apprehensive, however he soon warms to young and old alike. A bit of a flirt to be honest using his handsome face to make people melt. Overnight he sleeps well on his bed and does not bother us until the morning. He has not messed at all in the house, our furniture has remained intact (touch wood), and being a short haired dog he is very clean and well groomed.

I am excited at the prospect of Diesel being re-homed into a family that will love him and cherish his company. I would suggest that some outside space would be preferred, however the myths of lurcher dogs requiring acres of land in which to run, does not carry too much truth. So long as he is given a bit of a walk, coupled with some mental stimulation, he has always appeared happy.
