Meet the very shy girl Dolly who is a German Shepherd Cross and is around 18 months old. Dolly came into our rescue along with her litter brother and both had been very badly treated by their former owners. Dolly was in a terrible state when she arrived at his foster home and it has taken many months for her to begin to trust people again. Dolly will need a kind and gentle home with a calm and quiet environment where he can live stress free. Dolly can live with other dogs happily but they need to have a very calm and laid back nature – possibly an older dog.
Dolly is very wary of strangers and will cower away in a corner or hide out the way rather than make contact with you – this is due her past abuse and will take time and a steady, careful and patient socialisation program to help her to realise that not all people are going to be abusive to her and to happily accept strangers. Dolly is very loving with her foster mum & dad but shy’s away from anyone else so anyone interested in adopting Dolly will need to have several visits with her before finally moving her into a new home and this may need to phased in slowly to prevent as little stress to Dolly as possible.
Once Dolly has gotten to know you she will be a very loyal and loving companion Her new owner will need to be a patient loving person who will give Dolly the time she needs to adjust to her new environment and be able help her to gain her confidence back. Dolly will need a home with no children due to her anxiousness, she is not currently cat tested.
