Don was kicked out onto the streets by his cruel owner because he was not a good guard dog. He did not know how look after himself on the streets and was attacked a few times by packs of dogs. When rescued, he weight only 14kg. He’s slowly but surely putting on weight but still needs a good few kg. Don adores people. He loves nothing more than snuggling on the sofa next to you. He could do with some lead walking practice as he gets a bit excited to go out but he walks nicely with a halite.
Don is not a fussy eater and is food motivated so should be easy to train. He loves going out for a potter and spends most of his walks sniffing and running around. His recall is a bit hit and miss, depending on what there is to smell and chase. He needs some work with meeting dogs he does not know. He goes in at 300mph and if they tell him off, he snaps back. If the dogs are nice and calm around him, he’s fine.
He currently goes out with a dog walker on group walks and is fine with all the dogs he knows. It is just the initial meeting that is a bit hit and miss. He has never bitten a dog, he tries to pin them down with his feet if they start on him. Hopefully now that he’s going on on regular basis, he will pick up some doggy manners by watching other dogs.
Don is in foster in SW19 and waiting patiently for his forever family. Please note, a home check will be carried out prior to adoption and adoption contract and donation apply.
