Dookie
Dookie is a 5 year old male Collie cross who originally came from a rescue that now no longer runs, Hope will be working with Dookies owners to ensure that he finds a loving new home.
Here is his story in his owners words: “I had a baby son born in June over three months premature. After four nightmare months, it finally looks like he will be coming home but he has chronic lung disease and will be on oxygen for some time to come. After the hell we’ve been through this year, the final kick in the teeth is that we need to find a new home for our beautiful dog Dookie as we can’t take the risk with the baby’s lungs or infection. Added to which, I’m going to find it difficult to manage leaving the house with the oxygen, baby and dog to take him for walks and give him the exercise that he needs.
We got him from Dasha Dog Rescue when he was 9 months old. He is neutered, vaccinated and healthy and needs an active home with people to love him as we do. He’s highly intelligent and well behaved. He’s great with other dogs and has lived with cats before but they need to be brave ones as if they run away he’ll chase them. He’s a big dog and is incredibly strong but can be boisterous and a bit clumsy. He doesn’t know what to make of children so growls at them if they come to the house (but totally ignores them if we’re out walking) so wouldn’t be suitable for a family with youngsters.
We never believed that we would be in this situation and it breaks my heart, but we have to do what is right for our son and what is most fair for Dookie. We live in South Wales and desperately hope that we can find a happy union for Dookie soon.”
