Doris – 7 week old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Doris is 7 week old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross being fostered in Gloucestershire living with 4 cats and 5 other dogs. Say a gentle hello to 3 orphaned puppies, Doris, Frank & Bertie nearly 7 weeks old. Their mummy was rushed to vets heavily pregnant and had to have an emergency caesarean. She was kept in with her babies because of complications. What we know about the mum is she was a Mastiff cross taffordshire Bull Terrier. She was very similar colouring to Doris, she had the most beautiful gentle nature, trusted everyone even with such young babies whenever she was checked on or the babies she always had a gentle wagg of her tail and kisses for the veterinary team trying to help her get better unfortunately she was only a mum for 10 days and developed post operative problems and lost her life. There was lots of tears as everyone had grown to love this gentle loving dog and her family, her owners were devastated but were unable to take on the puppies and agreed to sign them over to the vets.

A lovely vet nurse called Helen took on the tough task of bottle feeding these babies and yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting them all, what a wonderful job this lady and her colleagues have done in raising these babies. They are living in a family house with 5 other dogs and 4 cats with visiting children, they were taken to the vets everyday for around the clock feeding and the result is 4 beautiful well rounded, socialised babies, they are now nearly ready to find their forever homes one of them is reserved all already.

So these babies although their mum was probably about 40 kilos we do not think they will be anywhere as big as this, although we do not know Dad we suspect he was a staffie as they look very Staffie and will probably be Staffie size possibly a bit bigger but there paws do not point to huge. So everyone loves a puppy we know, Staffies are the biggest casualty of unwanted dogs in UK and the only reason why is that they they are breed and breed by back yard breeders to make a few quid and then given to anyone who will give them a couple of hundred pounds or less in a lot of cases. These puppies will not be one of these and will be very strict where they go.

All 3 of these puppies have had the most wonderful start they had a beautiful natured mum – they need homes with people who have had bull breeds before or similar, no full time works and no young children (although not set in stone) the reason being most people with young children do not have the time to put into training, excercise etc. People who have the time to take the dog training and socialise and excercise them properly and bring them up to be well adjusted adults which they all have the potential to be. As part of the adoption agreement you will need to spay or castrate once they are old enough.

They will have their first vaccination, be chipped and have had all the correct worming and flea treatment before they leave their care. The adoption fee will be payable to the vets which will be to help recover some of the costs but they will still go out on a contract and home checking will apply.
