Dougie – 7 year old male Lurcher

What can we say about our Dougie, a 7 year old Lurcher and another of our long stayers? Well he is an enigma for sure and the other thing we can say about our Douglas is he is definitely NOT bright and this is why he sometimes portrays himself in a bad light because his one engaged brain-cell goes into overdrive! Dougie makes us laugh, Dougie definitely makes us smile and Dougie himself never ever stops smiling! This boy is fantastic with people and so loving and sweet. At the kennels he is great with some of the dogs! Usually the bossy bitches who won’t take his silliness but with some he can be a bit snappy and shouty. We feel Dougie would love a home as an only dog with someone around all or most of the time especially to begin with, experienced and willing to put some time and work in with what is as said a not very bright but wonderful character. With time and patience Dougie is going to make a fabulous dog for someone.

On walks he walks beautifully but will have a bounce lunge and shout if dogs run at gates and we feel typically with the breed he will do the same on walks if he sees running cats or offlead dogs. Dougie would definitely benefit from training classes. Dougie is not cat friendly. Dougie travels well in the car settling to sleep and although in kennels works hard to keep his immediate area very clean! I really hope that someone reads Dougie’s write up and takes it in the honest vein it is written ie a bit of a goofball and would be better as an only dog or with a very bossy bitch and see’s beyond his not so brightness and gives this wonderful lad the chance he deserves!

Dougie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and castrated.

Greyhound Gap
Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers who find themselves in a ‘put to sleep’ situation in UK pounds. Funded almost entirely by donations, we rehome around 150 dogs each year. We can have around 40-50 dogs at any one time in our kennels based in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent and a further 30-40 in foster homes. Greyhound Gap operates on a national basis so our dogs can be homed throughout the UK subject to a suitable home visit being carried out. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Greyhound Gap, we would ask that in the first instance you could take a few moments to complete our pre-adoption questionnaire if you have not already done so:
