Elliott is a 3-5 year old male English Cocker Spaniel Cross. Little Elliott came to us 7 weeks ago, fearful and lacking confidence. He had snapped at his owner and their toddler. His early life has been unsettled as his original owner passed away and he was taken in by her niece. He has snapped at us in the first few weeks but always when he was fearful. We have had great help from a behaviourist and his new owners would need to carry on with this work. He has settled with us really well and has grown in confidence every day. He loves to be by your side in the house and garden. He is affectionate and trots upstairs every morning to greet you with a cuddle. Loves his walks but doesn’t need a huge amount of exercise. His recall is good and he walks well on the lead.
(Now) He can be left for several hours and settles down in his bed after an initial yap. He now travels in the car really well. He had not been socialised with other dogs at all: consequently his initial reaction is to bark and lunge at passing dogs. However, with lots of work and treats, he will walk past them. He has experienced several playtimes with our friends and neighbours dogs, but this is a new experience for him ! He is easily motivated by food treats. He still needs a safe place to retreat too, if the environment is busy or noisy he just takes himself off to bed and is happy to be left alone. He doesn’t like to be fussed when he is in his crate.
In the short time he has been with us he’s had 2 caravan holidays and loved every minute. He’s even sat under the table at the pub and behaved impeccably. He has met our grandchildren who are 9 and 2 and coped well with them, although we were careful to give him space and not fuss him. He is quite sensitive to loud noises and hates the smoke alarm going off. He would suit someone who has a quiet lifestyle with no children or other dogs, and is perhaps looking for a dog that’s not quite so lively or boisterous. Elliot is nearly 5 years old and he is in foster High Peak Derbyshire.
He is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flead and adoption is subject to meet and greet, homecheck and adoption donation of £200. Applications via forms section of website please
