Elmo is a 2-3 year old male Cross-Breed. This fellow traveled from Romania earlier this year, and has been a U.K resident ever since. Approximately around Labrador size, with an athletic frame, Elmo is a very handsome chap. He lives with over 8 other dogs, of various age, size, breed and character. This boy is very good natured with dogs, and very good with cats. Elmo has lived in a house-hold with young children, but would prefer an adult only home.
Due to his experiences in Romania, dear Elmo may have been caught by a Dog Catcher Earlier on in life, which has implanted a fear of male figures. With women, he is naturally comfortable, but males he tries to keep out of the way. He needs time and reassurance around male figures, coming and going from the house. It may not be an overnight fix, but with time, patience and great understanding.
This behaviour is very common for a dog, that may have had a negative association previously. With great patience, this kind of issue can be resolved, that that Elmo can live a relaxed lifestyle. Elmo walks wonderfully on the lead, and happily greets neighbouring cats (as you can see in the video footage). Good with food and toys, showing no signs of aggression, he’d make an ideal companion in the ‘right’ environment. Clean in the house, he enjoys his walks, and is quiet in the house.
