Fergal - 3 year old male Greyhound

Fergal is a 3 year old Greyhound boy who moved into our care recently alongside Lola, Delta and Charity. All of these dogs came from the same trainer and all four are now displaying signs of being very nervous of men so need a gentle understanding home.

Fergal has now been in foster for two weeks, where he is starting to relax and come out of himself and approach you for cuddles and fuss. He is currently living alongside three other Greyhounds, two females and one male, who he gets on well with. He did have a slight altercation with the other male who took to guarding his food, whereas Fergal is a foody and behaves like a hoover, but since then all has been well.

Fergal

Fergal is not cat friendly and does prick his ears out on walks when he see’s them but does not pull or lunge. He has been curious when meeting other dogs but more in a what on earth is that type manner. We feel that due to this Fergal will benefit greatly from socialisation classes to allow him to see more of other breeds and understand them. He has met his foster carers brothers small collie and was very good with her.

We feel Fergal would be better in a home environment with a confident older bitch who can help bring him out of himself, but would also make a good only dog with someone around all or most of the time to settle him in and help build his confidence. It does need noting though that Fergal can be a little clingy once he bonds with you, so care would be needed to give him space and not allow him to develop anxiety issues.

For someone with a patient, quiet, loving home to offer Fergal will be a fabulous dog, he has the capability to bloom into a very special lad and his foster family are already smitten by his naivety.

Fergal is very responsive to his name and listens intently to commands and just wants to please. If you can help continue to take the vulnerability out of beautiful Fergal’s eyes please contact us, Fergal is deflead, dewormed, vaccinated, KC vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
