Flea – 2 year old female Lurcher

Flea, a 2 year old Lurcher girl, we love Flea she is a little minx! Flea landed with us from the stray pound in July 2016 but upon landing it was visible to see that something was very wrong with her legs. Flea it seems had spent the first 12 months of her life probably locked up in a shed, the issue with her leg was that the bones had grown but the tendons had not stretched due to no use. She was also covered in urine stains that had been there for a long time. We saw a specialist orthopedic surgeon who thankfully felt we should watch and wait with her legs which is what we have done! Now 6 months down the line we are happy to confirm that it has given her absolutely no problems! Flea is a little live wire who gallops around like a loony happily and with no effect.

Flea needs a home with someone with the time and patience to understand that her life to this point has either been in a shed or kenneled and she will need to learn all the manners that come with living in a home. Flea is a cracking little dog, intelligent and biddable but has a very cheeky side that occasionally lets her down out on walks. She seems to behave better for women and mouths a little at men (or maybe the women here at kennels are just better at handling the dogs lol). Flea would do best in a home with a playful but slightly older male companion or as an only dog as long as someone was around all of the time especially in the beginning to settle her in. would benefit from basic training classes just to help her learn to work with her owner and concentrate. Flea is going to be a really rewarding dog once she has had a little time and will be very much adored she really is that much fun. Flea is NOT cat friendly and due to her silly puppy nature would be best suited to a home with teenage children.

Greyhound Gap
Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers who find themselves in a ‘put to sleep’ situation in UK pounds. Funded almost entirely by donations, we rehome around 150 dogs each year. We can have around 40-50 dogs at any one time in our kennels based in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent and a further 30-40 in foster homes. Greyhound Gap operates on a national basis so our dogs can be homed throughout the UK subject to a suitable home visit being carried out. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Greyhound Gap, we would ask that in the first instance you could take a few moments to complete our pre-adoption questionnaire if you have not already done so: http://www.greyhoundgap.org.uk/our-dogs/pre-adoption-questionnaire
