Flo is a large shaggy crossbreed of around four or five years old. Flo was rescued from a public shelter in Romania but then went on to spend a year in a private shelter before she came to us. In the shelter, she did not let anyone touch her, but since being in the UK, she has learnt that some humans can be trusted. Flo is a shy dog with a playful and cheeky girl trapped inside her lack of trust in humans. She clearly really wants to be with humans and will sit in the same room as me and will follow me around, gently touching the back of my leg with her nose. She freezes when I go towards her to stroke her, but stays still and does not move away, and will edge closer if I stop stroking. She gets excited when we are preparing for a walk, and will approach cautiously to have her lead put on. She walks beautifully on a lead and trots along with me, with her tail up.
If we meet other dogs then she greets them politely. Flo is happily living with older children and several other dogs. She would prefer to live with another dog because she really loves to play and does not like to be left alone. She is living with cats and completely ignores them. Flo is an extremely beautiful dog who still needs some work to become a ‘normal’ dog. However, she is growing in confidence every day and will reward patience and love with trust and loyalty.
