Fred is a nine year old medium sized Cross-Breed. Fred is fostered in Gt Yarmouth (FR001). Fred spent many years in the Botosani public shelter in Romania. It’s a sad existence for hundreds of dogs and Fred’s story is all too common. Fred has been with me in foster for several months now and in many ways has been ready for adoption for a while. The only thing that’s been preventing me from writing this album is the fact that until very recently he has suffered from frequent nightmares and woken up reactive to anything in close proximity. It has deeply saddened me to watch this as no dog should have witnessed the horrors he’s clearly been dreaming of. Recently he appears to have put his past into a safer compartment of his mind and the nightmares have diminished.
Fred is a beautiful, slightly quirky, old boy who really looks like he’s smiling now. He loves his walks but is still a little anxious about the lead being put on and taken off, he will get over this too in time. He is funny and playful. He likes to be around people and will do happy dances when I come home. He will nuzzle my fingers and play with my hands but is still a bit wary of being stroked and a bit bewildered about why we want to.
This boy has a LOT of wasted years to make up for. He’s in very good health and condition for his age considering the hardships he’s suffered. He deserves to be thoroughly loved and pampered for his final years.
