Freddie is a 9 year old male Labrador Retriever Cross. He is a mostly black, fine boned, medium sized dog. He came into rescue when his elderly owner died. He had been placed with another rescue. However, when we heard he had been stuck in kennels for 4 months we offered to take him on, as we foster our animals in the home environment, and felt it only fair for a dog of Freddie’s age to have some comfort whilst waiting for his forever home.
Freddie hadn’t had much socializing, due to being indoors with his elderly owner, but he is now enjoying life and meeting new friends in the park displaying lovely manners. He is a lovely boy who gets on well with other dogs, but does have a bit of a hunting instinct, when out in woodland areas. This is probably down to Freddie’s new found experience of now being able to run offlead. His recall has improved considerably but he may have ‘selective hearing’ when it suits him. He is currently fostered with another female dog and it appears he enjoys the company. He can at times be quite puppyish and playful and enjoys playing with his ball. He has never lived with children, so we would only consider a family with older children. Freddie has not been cat tested, therefore, we would be looking for a cat free home. He will though require an active home as he does enjoy his walks.
Whilst in our care Freddie has had a painful tooth extracted, and a small lump removed from his lower eyelid. He is now in excellent health and looking for a special home. Freddie would benefit from an experienced home, willing to give this older boy a relaxed and stress free retirement. Freddie is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea and worm treated. Please note home check and donation applies.
