Frederick Rumpole

Frederick Rumpole (also known as ‘Freddie’) is a 6 year old male Bassett Hound, who came in to branch care to overcome issues of animal welfare that were developing once his current owners’ personal circumstances altered and the dog had to be left unattended for unacceptablely long periods.

He has been health checked, treated for worms and fleas, vaccinated and had his claws clipped. He weighs 26kg and is micro-chipped. He has not lived with either cats or dogs but has socialised with other dogs - no problems there - and got on well with the next door cat. He is very good with children having spent much time with his past owner’s grandchildren. He enjoys playing and readily participates in games.

Placid but obedient (occasionally pretends he hasn’t heard an order or is too lazy to act - the breed is known for this attitude), Freddie just loves his bed, squeeky toys, tit-bits and teasing during play. Likes his own bed in his owner’s bedroom. Strong on the lead.

Freddie loves people, so he does need a home where he is fully part of the family, Basset Hounds need to feel that, so new owners who are working from home or a retired couple may be best. By the way, he has never been allowed on furniture but does expect the run of the house.
