Gangly – 6 year old female Whippet
Gangly is a 6 year old Whippet female who came into our care recently due to sad circumstances with her sisters Poppy and Daisy both who have now found a new home. It needs noting that Gangly is a little bit different than most whippets before everyone rushes to phone. Before landing with us the three girls were co existing with a cat but the cat was there before the dogs and they were fine with it. Since leaving her home Gangly has other ideas and has not been best pleased to meet cats since although the other two have both happily been rehomed with cats without Madams influence So a home WITHOUT cats please.

Gangly is an absolute sweetheart and is here co existing with 8 other dogs with no problems whatsoever. Gangly likes to play BUT is a very bossy girl who likes to play games organised by her. If the other dogs play without her she can be quite yappy and lets them know that actually they should be playing *her* games, there is totally no malice and before long everyone agrees and Gangly’s games get played again.

In the house Gangly is an absolute star! She is spotlessly clean and fine to be left with the other dogs and settles easily. At night she likes to do what whippets do and that is too head to bed with you and take her place under the covers at the bottom and act like a whippet warmer all night. She does feel the cold easily and doesnt like not being able to join you so a new home with a family who are use to having whippet foot warmers through the Winter months is essential.
Gangly walks like a dream on the lead you hardly know you have her but is quite alert at times looking for cats and at others can be a little nervous ie high volume traffic etc but she just tends to get on with it. She is meant to be good off leash BUT I feel its taking Gangly longer than normal to bond with us humans so even after 5 weeks I have not been willing to chance it yet. Any new home must take notice of this and make sure she is kept safely on lead for a good couple of months whilst she bonds.
Although Gangly could probably happily be an only dog with someone around ALL the time and able to take her too work we do feel as she has always known the company of other dogs she would be much happier with a companion. Gangly would especially love her very own whippet boy to boss around or even a full sized greyhound male as she totally enjoys bossing the big boys around here and they love her for it.
We really cannot fault Gangly at all she is just the perfect house guest the only think we can say that isnt even particularly bad is that when playing she can be quite vocal and BOY does she like to play. She is also quite keen at playing rag and shake so we would imagine no small furries either unless safely enconsed and we have found her on the kitchen worktop once eyeballing the hamster. Gangly is vaccinated, deflead, dewormed, microchipped and neutered.
