Gemma
Meet Gemma, she is a 1 year old female German Shepherd cross dog that has been with us since the beginning of November 2006, as she was unwanted by her owners. She arrived very heavily pregnant and went on to have 10 healthy puppies.

Although initially very scared of new people she will require a period of ‘getting to know’ however once trust is established Gemma will love you forever and can be won over by treats! She has shown signs of being protective but this is just the GSD trait coming out in her nature.
Gemma loves going for walks but is very strong and also very dog aggressive on the lead but we doubt she has ever been walked before arriving here. She is now being walked on a harness and it is starting to make a slight difference! She is protective of her friends both on and off lead so care must be taken at all times when out and about. Gemma adores human company so needs a home where there is someone around all the time.
She has no grasp of commands so will need full basic training, having said this she does now know ‘sit’. Despite her many problems she does have a heart of gold and is just a big puppy! She has the mannerisms of a puppy and seems to still be going through her puppy-hood now having missed out on it when she was younger! Gemma adores to play, although has yet to learn the art of retrieval!
She is good with some other dogs but seems petrified of them so would be best as an only dog, would probably not be good with cats and is fine with children over the age of 16 years. Gemma just craves cuddles and love so needs some one that is going to spoil her rotten. Can you offer Gemma a new start in life after the poor start she has had?
