Gentle Guy – 3 year old male Rottweiler

Gentle Guy is a male Rottweiler aged approximately 3 years old. He is okay with other dogs but unknown with cats. He has a nice temperament and we feel he would be suitable to be rehomed with sensible, older children. He came into rescue via the dog warden as an unclaimed stray; it’s really unbelievable that no-one has claimed him, as he has clearly been well looked after, trained and loved in his previous home.

It is not often I can take good photographs of dogs without assistance; well this chap just does exactly as he’s asked! A nicer, super friendly, good mannered and better trained dog you won’t find. He does a lovely sit and stay, gives both paws and is very, very gentle with treats, (you can put your hands in his mouth and he almost suckles on them, he really is that gentle). He will obey all commands without the aid of a treat. He is very affectionate, he likes to lean in on your legs, get himself comfortable and steady and he can then enjoy a stroke, massage and cuddle. And to top it all, if you can cope with it, he will even give a little kiss! Although we have no background history, a dog this well trained is very likely to be housetrained, although we cannot guarantee it and you should expect a little accident or two with any rescue dog during the settling in period.

Gentle Guy is a happy chappie, loves a trot around our exercise yard and likes to play ball. I can’t find anything to dislike about this lovely lad, he has just settled right in with the kennel routine and just gets on with it, with no negative behaviour reported. Rottweilers are a great breed with the right owner and in the right home environment, they are loyal to their families and I would expect him to form a close bond with new owner and family. Kennels is no place for this lovely lad, so we are keen to see him into a new home as soon as possible. Larger breeds of dog do take longer to rehome than the fluffy small cute ones but please do consider our fella as he is an absolute smasher, a good all rounder that I’m sure will settle into most home environments.

Please contact us for further details as soon as you can, as I’m sure the first person to meet him will fall in love on the spot, as there really is no finer Rottie than our Gorgeous Gentle Guy!

RSPCA Essex South West
The RSPCA Essex South West Branch is, like all RSPCA branches, an independent charitable trust. As such, it has to be financially self-supporting – in other words it has to raise the funds it needs to support its animal welfare activities. The Branch covers an area ranging from Dagenham & Barking in the South to Epping & Nazeing in the North, Waltham Abbey to the West and Abridge to the East. Although we do rehome our dogs to all other areas. The Branch is run and staffed entirely by volunteers. The main activity of the Branch is in rescuing and finding new homes for companion animals that for a variety of reasons are either homeless or cannot stay with their present owner. We work in partnership with Goddard's Chingford Kennels, who board and care for our rescue dogs. All dogs who are rehomed from us will have their initial course of vaccinations, worm and flea treatments, will be neutered, microchipped and come with 6 weeks free pet insurance in conjunction with the RSPCA and More Than insurance company. In the last eight years (to December 2012) the RSPCA ESSEX SOUTH WEST Branch has re-homed approximately 2200 cats and 1700 dogs. 220 dogs were re-homed in 2013.
