George - 2-3 year old Greyhound cross Bedlington cross Bearded Collie

George is a 2-3 year old male, we think he is a Bedlington Terrier cross Bearded Collie cross Greyhound about 23 inches tall. George recently came to us from a stray pound situation so nothing is known of his history. George has now moved into a foster home environment with 7 other dogs as we felt he needed his social skills improving and a large pack was the place to do this without him getting above his station. So far so good he is getting on well with the others and settling in quickly.

Its clear to see that George has never lived with other dogs before and whether he has lived in a house is debatable. He can be a little bit guardy at the moment around food and treats with the others but its still early days and this is improving so he would need for the time being to be fed separately or supervised.

George did mark a little to begin with but is now clean and has the run of the house, he settles down to sleep well and is a good quiet boy. Although he would be happy with company we do feel he would also be quite happy as an only dog with someone around most of the time as he likes to play with toys on his own and is happy to amuse himself! Toys…… yes loves them, loves them, loves them.

Out in the garden George loves nothing than to hoon around and play about with the other young lurchers who play the same games. He has been good with recall in the garden and responds to his name but at the moment the same cannot be said outside the confines. We feel George has possibly been a failed worker as he is bunny mad and goes deaf when out and about and focuses on scanning the horizon. Training classes would probably be a huge benefit to this lad to get him working with you to enable a chance of a recall but at the moment he is most definatly not safe to be allowed off leash as he would take off.

Having Bedlington and Collie in him George will be a very clever lad who will be a capable and quick learner. For a Lurcher experienced family or someone who is willing to spend time and effort bringing this lad on he will become a dream.

George is most definitely NOT cat friendly and because of his guarding around food we would not want to put him into a family with children younger than 10 and would like them to have a good understanding of dogs. At the kennels out on the walks George did react a couple of times to other male dogs who got too far in his face so this does need nothing, however, in the foster home it is him who is noseying into everyone else’s business. George is deflead, dewormed, vaccinated, KC vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered.
