Gordon – 2 year old male German Short-Haired Pointer
Gordon is a lovely small to medium sized, 2 year old German Short-Haired Pointer boy found as a stray in Ireland. He arrived in the UK on 6/11/09 and is now in foster care in Lincolnshire. We aren’t sure what his breeding is, but suspect there is some setter in him. He is predominantly black, but with lovely chestnut high-lights on the side of his face, chest, legs and tail and a bit of white on his chest.
He isn’t very big – about 20″, and is quite slightly built with a little feathering on his ears and tail. He is a friendly chap in a calm way – doesn’t jump up or anything. Walks well on the lead; is house-trained; mixes well with the fosterers’ bitches. (When mixed with a bigger number of male dogs, he did get a bit stressed, but that was on his first day).
He has nice manners and understands ‘No’ and ‘Lie down’ but doesn’t seem to know ’sit’ – but we are working on that! He is not food possessive, and waits calmly with the other dogs to be fed.

He travels well in the car, and has been OK to be left in the home (with other dogs for company), and he was also fine left alone in the car for about 20 minutes after visiting the vet for a check-up. He was lovely at the vets, and was much admired, and enjoyed the attention of being checked over.
He is fully vaccinated, wormed and de-flead. He is not yet neutered, as the vet recommended leaving him for a few weeks until he put on some more weight (he is about 3kgs under-weight at the moment).
From first impressions, we think that Gordon would be happier in a quieter home. He is a bright chap, and learnt to use the dog flap within the first few hours, but he would benefit from some more training. He has today been taken for a walk on the beach where he met a variety of dogs without any problems, as well as plenty of people – he was particularly taken by one man, so I wonder if his previous owner was a man?
So if you feel that you could offer a new home to this friendly lad, please get in touch. Gordon is being rehomed under the normal rehoming procedures operated by the rescue.
