Hank – 2 year old male Chihuahua Cross

Hank is a handsome long haired male Chihuahua cross who is just under 2 years old. He is larger than a regular Chihuahua. He was transferred from another branch where he was really struggling in a kennel environment. He was extremely stressed and has been in foster care since where he is coping so very much better and we have been able to see his true character shine through.

Hank is a loyal dog but he can be unsure and wary of new places and noises. He can also be anxious when he meets new people and will bark at them initially. If you take your time and let him come to you slowly,he does become more confident. His owners will need to be patient and understanding of this and be prepared to put in some training to help him build his confidence .He is very motivated by high value food treats so does have a lot of potential for training.

Hank does have a grasp of basic commands .He walks really nicely on a lead or harness and also likes playing with soft toys. He appears to travel very well in the car. Hank sometimes does have a slight limp and hops on his right hind leg. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all or stop him running. We have consulted a vet with regards this and more information will be given upon making enquiries.

Hank is looking for a home where he will have company for the majority of the day. He loves a good fuss. He also needs an experienced dog owner who will provide fair but firm boundaries for him and be strict with house rules. He is very good with other dogs and enjoys socialising with them . He could possibly live with another small female neutered dog if the meet is successful . He is not to be rehomed with children or cats.

Please note that his coat will require regular grooming which he enjoys very much !
