Harry is an American Bulldog, who is around 23 months old. Once he gets to know you and trust you he is such a gentle and loving dog. He has lots of admirers who always say how handsome he is! He walks great to heel but needs a firm hand. He has good recall although I have only ever let him off the lead without other dogs or people around. He loves playing fetch and will happily skid around after a ball for all of his walk time. He only needs between 30-60 mins exercise a day to keep him thoroughly happy, although he gets lots more at the minute. After he will happily laze the day away, his favourite place is to sit by the fire place (well practically on top of if). He hates wooden floors so will fuss with you until you get his bed to sit on. He has had no accidents in the house, is a foster with 3 other dogs in the house and gets on beautifully with them. Even though he is by far the biggest he knows his place in the pack!
Harry is fearful of strangers and has developed fear aggression which means he can get very upset and angry when meeting people who come into his space for the first time. Over time with slow introductions he mellows out again to the big softy he really is and demands cuddles instead! He is currently being trained with a dog behaviourist to tackle his fear aggression and this type of training will need to be continued for the rest of his life. Harry has had lots of 121 time and so can get a little worried when you leave him. He is NOT destructive but can cry at the start (settles after awhile) and will not eat or drink while you are gone. He is getting much better but needs to have someone that can teach him that when they leave they are coming back.
Harry LOVES playing with toys and will play by himself for hours. His favourite are rope toys and anything that he can take the stuffing out off! Lol All round Harry is the perfect dog for someone who has plenty of time to spend with him, wants love and cuddles but knows how to handle him and is willing to work on his behaviour issues. Best suited with another dog, no children or cats.
