Harry – 10 year old male English Springer Spaniel

Harry the 10 year old English Springer Spaniel is an affectionate and happy boy. He has plenty of energy and is hoping to find a nice family home where he’ll get lots of attention and cuddles and plenty of walks.

Harry is currently in an Oldies Club foster home in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and his foster family think he’s a great dog with a wonderful character. He’s always ready to greet you at the door with one of his toys.

Harry settled into his foster home quite quickly and he doesn’t mind being left alone for a few hours at a time, so he’d be okay living with a working family if someone could be around to walk him or let him out for a toilet break during the day.

Harry gets along fine with his foster family’s dog, although he’s quite protective of his family so does occasionally grumble if he thinks he’s not getting most of the fuss! He can also be a little possessive with his toys and food, but his foster family are working on this and don’t think it’s too much of a problem. He’s absolutely fine with other dogs he meets out on walks and generally ignores them.

Whilst Harry hasn’t met any cats yet, he does get excited when he sees rabbits so his foster family think he’d be better in a cat-free home. He’s such a friendly boy that he’d probably be fine living with children, but because he’s quite active and playful he could be too much for little ones. He’d therefore be better in a home with older children (aged 8yrs+).

Harry loves to play and really enjoys chasing a ball. He’s always keen to go out on walks is very good on the lead, but can sometimes pull when he’s excited. He has quite good recall, but it can take a couple of calls to get his attention if he’s distracted by an interesting scent.

Harry’s favourite pastime seems to be collecting shoes and socks! His foster family says …. “Harry loves shoes and socks – well actually he loves anything you leave lying around on the floor! If we lose anything the first place to look is in Harry’s bed!”

They also tell us…“Harry is a lovely dog and is so full of life. He is a real character and has made a big impact on our family. He really deserves a wonderful home”

Harry isn’t yet neutered, but he’s started his vaccinations and has been flea and worm treated. He will be microchipped before being rehomed.

Unfortunately Harry has a condition called “Dry-eye” and this will require life-long medication. He’s being treated with Optimmune eye drops and this costs around £30-£35 every 4-6 weeks. Oldies Club are willing to pay for Harry’s ongoing eye medication, so we hope this won’t discourage you from enquiring about him.
